Help! Double din=dead battery

just throwing this one out there, there may be an internal problem with the radio, and it is eating up power. wouldnt be the first time somebody sold a broke @ss radio on ebay.

use a meter and watch the current being used by the radio while off, also at the battery with the radio connected and disconnected.

+1,000....

I would think a professional such as your buddy "Conrad the professional" would have known to do this type of test when I originally said do a test on the battery. Maybe not since I see your choice of words indicates that you yourself tested the battery. Perhaps everything needs to be spelled out to you "Buddy". And since it has come to that, take the car back to your installer/friend and tell him to give you good customer service and determine the root cause of your issue even if it leads back to a faulty head unit. ;)

On a more sincere note, thx Loud for hopefully making things more clear. Let's see if the op will listen and stop trolling in the bad alternator/ bad battery thread fishing for an answer.

They say you get what you pay for.

china made double din sounds like a rip off especially in a luxury car. Especially when you can spend maybe $50 more and get a pioneer.

And actually it says "they were" hooked up.

Im surprised your getting any help at all with that smart a$$ answer... I'd imagine you've hit it dead on with "the buddy" scenario..

Oh and next time, "off" and "on" doesn't clarify anything. What you mean to say is "running or not"...

At this point, all you can do is either A. completely uninstall the cheap HU and see if going back to factory fixes it.... or B. go have your battery or alt. tested... you will have to "jump start it / or charge it" (dont know what "boost" means) and take it in....

Those cheap units have weak solder points...they dont have the same quality control just saying.

i'd imagine he's (i mean his buddy) either wired it wrong or fried the battery durring the install....

I dunno i mean its pretty hard to screw up the power and ground cables.

But it can happen. The headunit could be wired to a constant 12v lead and not switched power which will kill the battery quickly.

... you would think.

Only way to rule it out is to uninstall and or check the wiring...

Well buddy, i got all the help i needed thanks!
