Hi, I am new here and I have a question about a Pioneer Head unit that is in my Jap import, Right hand drive, 2001 LS

The model number is Avic-XA1086zf. It has full Sat NAV, TV, Radio etc.

I simply can not find any info about it!

The problem I have is that the unit is set to Japanese (although all the buttons are labled in English) and I want to swap it back to English.

Does anyone have any info on this unit?

(i will get a pic if you need it)

thanks

Might be a dumb answer, but can you check under the "Status" menu on your dash (providing you have the info center on your car)? My Canadian LS has a French/English setting.

Probably won't be helpful advice, but all the same - welcome to the club :).

it needs some work but i'll post it up on monday

ps

its rare as its a factory produced right hand drive. Stick out a bit over here in the UK

ya id like to see that it sounds cool. Never seen a right hand drive one.

Somethings strange about this. Uk is right hand drive not? Why would it stand out then? I have seen on here once before I became a member also that the LS's along with some others are still left hand in JAPAN.

that double din definately says lincoln in the upper right hand of it. anyone know anything about it? also how about those rims.. they are ugly as sin

Its acutally right on topic since that pic of the unit your talking about just happens to be in the pic's posted.

They sell Jags in the US even tho they are supposed to be the equivelant to the LS or vice versa, so why dont they sell both in the UK. I didnt realize this.

I know Japan is right hand drive but I was missinformed otherwise of the LS still being right hand drive. I was told they along with many others Like Mercedes and Stangs and thats just a few along with the 300c, still had a left hand steering column and are considered highly Luxurious.

As for the unit I dont know if to many here can help you, Im not seeing you stick around either cause in every thread there is more than a few posts that go off topic. We have fun here, you just seem to want info on this Japanese Navi unit.

Duh? He'd like to USE it im sure, but can't because its all in Japanese?

If I got answers like that to my questions I wouldnt stick around long either. If you dont have anyuseful info to present about the question either dont respond or when you DO respond at least give the guy a suggestion of where to look.

I dont know anything about that NAV unit, but it it were in my car I would try to find someone who's japanese, or knows japanese and ask them to help figure it out. Good luck with it.

So you only replied to my post with just as much info for him? Its a forum! They do this kindda stuff here, your are supposed to learn in school, but you do lots of other things there as well. I inquired on his post because I felt the need to learn about the car, I made a statement not ment to criticise but I unfortunatley hurt his feelings. Should I have appologized? oops sorry chap.

Do these units come factory for these in the US from 00-02? I didnt think they did, but I tried to search for the model ( Nav unit) online and I cant find anything either. You night be screwed, call Lincoln it has the Lincoln name on it they should help yah but I dont think you can switch it over useually there is setting in the device for such things like this but I know you cant find it cause you dont speak Jap that is if it has one and who says it translates to English, might only do other Asian languages. Hmmm do any Jags have this, talk to a Jag dealer near you it might be worth a try and you might even get some props from em.

Or Pm this guy he might be of some help...01lssport. he is in Japan from what I understand.

its likely its a simple as this. changing the language settings from japanese to english. with that being said, get someone that knows the japanese language and ask them to "play around" with it. hopefully they come by a settings menu with a language subsetting. switch that up. i could also be misunderstand what you are asking for completely

thanks, I will have to find some one who can read the unit as my Jap is a but rusty! lol

Jay, I would love to see some pictures of your car. From your description, it seems like a rare bird! Please post some interior and exterior photos when you can. Thanks!!

Can you translate the words, like find the translation for settings, language (i doubt it would be more than that). At least this way you could just match letters and symbols. Good luck!

Maybe even if you have a laptop, this might be a far shot but you can try to translate it somehow with internet. Look up a translater and start typeing it in( whats on the Navi screen).

I would suggest Google's language tools ( http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en ), but it's pretty daggone hard to type Japanese characters in when you have a US-English keyboard. Denso OEM'd the Nav part of the US models' Nav system, so maybe you could find something on their Web site. If you look at one of the Japanese Web sites for electronics manufacturers, maybe you'll be able to find the correct words, which you could copy and paste into the Google tools listed above...
