Hello all,

I've just joined as I recently purchased a 2005 Lincoln LS V8 Sport with 18,400 miles on it for 16k minus 2k for my trade-in. I was previously a 300M owner and am now looking for a new forum to call home. Can anyone provide any input as to things that I need to watch for with this car or things that I should check? I don't want any surprises like I had with the 300M and the timing belt destroying the motor. Also, what are some basic mods that I can do to the car? Spoiler, wheels, air filter? Do these have an intake silencer like the ford tauruses?

Thanks in advance!

Watch out for me...I'm a lying son of a b*tch

But I sometimes can make you laugh :-)

If you want a good source for parts for the Ls check out here:

http://www.lskoncepts.com/store/

I got my CAI, Exhaust and SS brake lines from them :-D

Though I have a 2000 model.....

I'm sure there's plenty of guys to help with your newer model LS......you should be able to run a near 14.2 on the 1/4 mile once you get a tuning, exhaust, and intake :-D

LOL! This question has probably been asked before but how simple is it to change the way the autostick (or I think it's called SST on these). I don't like the idea of shifting the lever forward to go to the next gear and would prefer it to be the other way around. Also, I noticed that you can't redline and force it into the next gear while in manual mode like the 300M. I couldn't find anything in the owners manual which stated that it would shift automatically either....

Well mine doesn't have that but I do have to say the e-brake on your Gen II ls's I hate...you can't do decent burnouts or revving of the engine......shame shame... :P

Haha, funny. We had a big thread on this over the last week. I just did mine last Thursday, it was really easy to do if you are decent with some tools and your hands. Best mod ever, too. So much better to use when you pull back to shift up.

Doesn't have anything to do with the e-brake, it's a rev limiter. Why can't we 2nd gen's do burnouts? I haven't ever tried, but I'm pretty sure it's as simple as turning off the traction control.

It is.

However, turning off traction control is not as easy as you might think if you have advancetrac. (Advancetrac and traction control are not the same thing.)

Yeah what is the secret to that? Just disabling Advancetrac with a normal button push appears to do it. But a long time ago I tried what the manual says, holding the button down for 5 seconds, and it only disabled the button instead of doing anything useful.

Also, :W

you can do burnout i do it all the time just hold the advance track for 5 seconds and then do a power brake and burn away..... and the reason you cant red line is because you have a rev limiter on your car you can remove it with the flash from torrie but really you dont want to remove it.

Welcome to LVC and LS ownership. Try to get used to the horrible search feature on the site. It sucks, and we all know it. But sometimes you can find very detailed information about what you are looking for.

Press and release the advancetrac off button. The message: "Advancetrac off" will display. Now, press and hold the advancetrac off button. The message "Traction Control Off" will display.

If you don't have advancetrac, then the first press of the button will say "traction control off" I don't know what holding the button would do.

I have AdvanceTrac on mine and holding the button down does nothing but make the button inoperable

word

If I disable advancetrac, then hold the button down, nothing happens until I release the button, at which point Advancetrac turns back on.

Nice ride, and great price with those miles!! Welcome to the board, and that SSt mod is all over, Pektel has done a very good step by step tutorial on it.

That's what I get for believing the manual.

f*ck OEM documentation! who needs to know how to operate their vehicle? I lost my manual so I just tinker with crap until Im satisfied with the result. My lastest thing, the DSP button my on Alpine 6 CD Changer. I like to change it to stadium when my friends are in the car and we listen to the Twins game. Minnesota Twins that is. Baseball >.>

Dont judge me...
