Heater core replacement (1978 Continental)

Has anyone here replaced a heater core in a 77-79 Lincoln Continental with auto climate control? I think maybe even 74-79 would work. When I took mine out, the rubber gasket that surrounded it had totally rotted. I can't get a replacement online, and I doubt anything in a junkyard would be of any good. I think it was there not to stop leaks, but just to cradle the unit so it doesn't move around.

Yes the rubber gasket surrounding the heater core is there to stop the core from vibrating in its housing.

Have you tried Dan at GoldmanClassicLincolns.com , if he can't get one then use a strip of foam around the heater core.

I didn't want to wait that long. I'll keep that guy in mind for the future though. I ended up using gasket material around the top and I wedged in some foam around the sides. That thing is solid in there. Everything works though, no leaks, and it really heats up the cabin.
