Whenever I have a passenger in my car they always end up turning their heated seat off before mine is even starting to feel warm. What's the deal? Is it something as simple as changing the filter or is there more going on?

2004 LS V8 with 50,000 miles.

At first I just figured that my wife had a different threshold for a$$ hotness. But over the months I've had other people riding with me and they're always turning it off before I even turn mine down. Come to think of it, my side was always slow to cool in the summer, too.

So your wife has a hot azz, eh? Well post pix! (J/K)

I doubt its the filter, but it could be a couple of other things.

The easiest is simply a disconnected ductwork tube. This has been known to happen in the 2004 models.

A more serious possibility is that the ductwork has become crushed as you have been sitting in the seat. I've explained the fix for this here:

If you need the TSB, ping me with a PM.

hehe. I was wondering as I was typing that sentence if anyone was gonna turn it around on me. But, for the record, yeah, it's pretty hot...:D

Thanks for the link/info! I'll look into it and see what I can find.

Edit: hey, that thread isn't very old. I apologize for missing it. I guess the title was descriptive enough and I passed over it. None-the-less, time to put that warranty to good use!

i have the same issue in my 2002 V8. could it be the same problem? does this kind of thing happen in the 2002 model like it does in later ones?

Nope. You have a seat with an electrical heating element in them, not ductwork. In your case, what happens is that your fat azz damages the element. Totally different type of fix.

I too have had this problem with my driver side seat heater. It dosent work at all or it will shut off before it gets warm.

And dont tell me it's my fat ass, im a slim dude...
