hey my driver side seat lumbar doesnt inflate or deflate & my heat doesnt work on driver heated seat but the lite for heated seat controls works on the on-off/hi-lo/back-both controls, the rest of the seat funtions work & the passenger seat everything works on it. what could be wrong with driver seat & could it be a simple fix?

Your 97 seat lumbar support is mechanically operated by a small electric
motor. There are no lumbar air pump / air bladder system like those on Gen 1.

Individual heated seat modules are located under each of the
front seats where the rest of the seat adjustment motors are. Lumbar and
seat harness electrical connections are under each seat location
as well. See if one or more harnesses may be disconnected.

If you had removed the driver seat and have disconnected any
harness connectors, A simple fix could be as easy as making sure
the electrical harness connectors are reconnected making a
possitive contact.

If you haven't removed the seats and all functions were working
before; there is a series of test that can be done using a DDM-VOM to
determine there is no open circuit in the harness.

Also test for lumbar switch or motor failure, heated seat element or
heated seat module failure.

are the heat modules the same part for each driver & passenger seat? or are they totaly different parts?

The harness connector for the heated seat module are physically identical
from either side. Unfortunately electrical functions to pins 1 & 2 are swapped
to 2 & 1 at the opposite connector.

To complicate things even more, of the 14 wire leads in each harness,
some wire color code are shared and some are not.

I need to check mine too. My lumbar works fine, and the bottom of the seat heats fine. But the seat back won't heat. I set the heat to "Both" and the bottom gets hot enough to roast my buns...:D but the back stays cool. I guess I need to take the seat out and check it out. It's the same on the passenger side too. Heat on bottom, no heat on back.

When I got my 98' the guy told me that he put new heating units in the drivers seat, I never used em till winter came and now heat on the drivers seat. Pass works fine and now that the cold is hear I have to figure out what is wrong?

Both my driver and pass side have slowly been dying. All I have left iirc is bottom on the both, and they take a while to get warm if they do decide to work that day. I'll prob just get a non heated switched panel when they finally die.
