Found these. I know nothing about headrest monitors, wiring them, etc. Wondering if they are any good:

Pretty pricey for the typical made in china universal LCD headrest monitor. I picked mine up from ebay last year for less than $200. 7.2 inches if I recall, which is fine. Chances are the color of the headrests will be significantly off from the color of your interior. Not a problem. You simply head to your local auto paint supply store and pick up a can of Bulldog Adhesion promoter and SEM Vinyl Dye/paint. Clean the headrests well with soap (dishwashing liquid/water works fine) and let dry, then wipe down with rubbing alcohol. Let dry. Spray with the adhesion promoter, (follow directions on can), then 3-4 LIGHT coats of SEM dye/paint that matches your interior.

What will you use for your source for the monitors? I used the AVIC D3 on mine. Works fine. One note: These universal headrests often arent the same fit/dimensions as factory, and can end up being rather useless as "headrests". Mine visually look perfect in the car, but dont tilt forward enough to be useful for resting your head.

i have two 6'' monitors for the headrest il let them go for $100
just pm me

millionbuy.com has some choices for good prices. my local stereo shop where i have had some work done wanted to sell me some power acoustik ones for retail, and i found them online much cheaper. I have not personally seen them but 250 for two 9.5" screens (for my expedition) would be a good deal.

they have a ton of the preinstalled ones on that site

I'm looking for something bigger than 6" screens...I believe the ones i found are 9". Thanks, though.

lseguy, I have a kenwood ddx 7015 for the source. I'm thinking that should work, although I haven't quite looked into it yet. How do you have your's wired? through a switcher box? also, if you could post some pics, that'd really help me out. thanks!

i have 11" headrests and don't have a problem tilting them. i had bought some from "vision"...something, always forget. but they didn't tilt enough as well so i exchanged them. mine are also somewhat off in color and appreciate the advice for the dying. thanks

Not familiar with the Kenwood, but assuming it has a video out port/RCA cable, you should be fine.

I tapped into the rear cigaratte lighter 12v power (constant hot) and installed a on/off switch down there. (dremeled into the console). Ran the power wire for both monitors to that switch. Grounded each monitor to a screw somewhere inside the seatbacks. Ran each headrest monitors video cable under center carpet/console to front of car, then up behind the dash. My monitors also have their own on/off switch. This is actually my second set of monitors. First set was a custom deal that I did and was never fully satisfied with. Sold them, and then got the monitor/headrests as one unit.

The pics are pre-Avic D3. Had a Blaupunkt mobile DVD player in the trunk, hence the remote eye you see down on the center console. On the back deck, I also had a headphone plug in jack, which is also gone. All audio now comes from the Avic D3. Sometimes I use DVD's, sometimes I use movies stored on the Ipod which is connected to/controlled by the Avic D3. With the Blau, I also had to use a signal amplifier which was 12volt powered, and had video outs to both headrests. Without it, the Blau would drop out/distort the video sugnal during high explosion/high action scenes. The Avic has more than enough video signal output to handle it's own screen, and the two headrest screens. I hence removed the Alpine signal booster and sold it.

Old headrests I did myself, and soon after removed. Functional, but not that pretty. LOL.

Inside shot of the back of the seat. Look carefully to the lower left, and you will see the wrapped power and signal wires going from the seat to the center console. You will also spot the red on/off switch.

The color difference before the dye/paint job on the headrests. (that is a swatch of factory graphite interior material.)

One last note. Your headrests may not have the "slots" on the actual headrests poles. These "slots" on the factory headrests are what allow the adjustability/keep the headrests in any "up" position you have them in. I used a dremel tool to carefully cut in a few slots on the poles of my video headrests. Carefuly not to cut the slots all the way through. I basically made slight indentations in mine for the factory tabs in the seatback to be able to "grab" onto.

thanks for the tips. what brand did you go with? and what was the cost?

oh, and i can't see any of the pics. is it just my computer?

They show on mine. Must be kodakgallery. And for some reason, this site only will let you correct your post within 10 minutes of posting or something? WTF? Brand was "SPL". Got them on ebay from some seller in China. They also come with a woodgrain frame vs the carbon fiber frame shown in my pics. They didnt have the woodgrain for sale at the time, or else I would have gone that route. I think I paid right around $200 for the pair.

Remember..first pic is the old job I did. Basically monitors attached to the factory headrests. They worked, but werent pretty at all. LOL. They sold a year or so ago on ebay.

do you have the tan leather interior, or the graphite? Hard to tell from the photo.

If it's graphite, I can locate the spray can of SEM spray when I get home to let you know the color code. Once I thoroughly cleaned the seat, then applied conditioner to the headrest, the color match is very close. As close as you can get without having some sort of custom mix made.

it's the tan and that would be great. is it an easy job to do? all i'm worried about is masking off the actual screens so they won't get painted. once again thanks.

Tan, then I cant help with the code. I have the graphite (grey) interior, which is the color I sprayed my headrests with.

It is a very easy job to to. Take some masking tape to mask the LCD screen and the LCD screen frame. Cover up the silver headrest posts with newspaper or whatever, then get to work.

Again...just clean well with a soapy cloth thats NOT soaking, dripping wet. Rinse by wiping the headrests down with a separate cloth thats damp (NOT DRIPPING). Let dry. Pour some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and wipe all over the headrests. Let dry. Then follow the directions on the Bulldog Adhesion Promoter can. Then follow the directions on the SEM Vinyl Dye/Paint can. (the headrests are vinyl...not leather). Make sure you do this when the temperature range is within whats stated on the can, make sure you use sweeping motions when spraying, make sure you use several LIGHT coats, and make sure the can is about 12 inches from the surface you are spraying. Your end result WILL look factory.
