I need to replace the head liner in my car but I have an aftermarket sunroof and there is no pad to recover. I changed my interior color and that is the last thing to be changed.

Has anyone done this before? I had a quote of $400 and there is no way I'm going to pay that.

I have a head liner from one of my parts cars but the opining for the sun roof is bigger, does any one local have a non sun roof headliner I could buy?

This is all I found when searching http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=21060

Thanks

Anything would work. That's the beauty of it all. Use whatever you want. Totally tailor it to your specs. By the way, what color is your interior? I have a black headliner in my 94 parts car with a sunroof.

Well I think there is a cougar in the local yards that doesn’t have a sun roof. I might try that, that way I can customize the hole size.

GMAN I have a black liner too with a sunroof but the opening is bigger my "aftermarket" sun roof opening. What size is yours (the opening), is it stock?

Yup, no pad what so ever. It's fairly common in aftermarket sunroof installs to just stretch fabric and glue it. They say is faster/better but I don’t believe that.

saw a headliner done with velcro. so everything you had in your car you just stuck a pad to it and then stick it to the ceiling. it was so cool.

Eric, my 94 is stock. It's clean with no tears or rips.

Forgive my cluelessness but how is the headliner attached to the roof?

I would like to remove mine but I dont want to break anything.

I plan on covering mine in black leather accented down the middle front to back with a matching french stitch like the stitch on the leather steering wheel. I want to get the large MKS lincoln logo and embed it atop in the center between the driver and passenger seat highlighted by blue LED halo behind it..

you basically have to remove the inside panels. the front pillars and the backs. you dont have to take them all the way out but if ya dont you could risk a little bit of damage trying to fold it out of place. then you have deal with turning it around and working it out the door. some people have removed their seats to get it out easier. i didnt do that when i did mine. i did suffer a little bit of damage in the corners near the front of the car. stiffened it back up with some duct tape. its not a hard task. just a pain in the ass task. you also will need to remove the lights and stuff thats drilled through them and the visors

The corners are just glued, I am padless :( .

I would love to have a custom swede one but that’s $450 somalians. That money is best spent elsewhere.

I did the headliner on my '96 last year. Unfortunately, the material I used wasn't "stretchy" enough and some of it came unglued and I have a couple of small sags at the rear window. I'm planning to take it out and do it again soon. It's a pretty straight forward job. Getting the thing out of the car is the hardest part. My mom just got the headliner done in her '97 Cougar 30th Anniversary edition last weekend and it looks fantastic! And it only cost $100 bucks. And that's just because it has a moonroof. If it didn't have that, he would have charged $85 to do it. That's a pretty good price.:)

If I called around some more I might find a cheaper price but I'm trying to save up for some wheels so trying this myself looks more likely at this point.
