headlight tinting

i know this topic has been beat to death but i just did the easy dyi projeat tiniting headlights adn when they say that having the black silcone in the lights are hard to get off they aren't :q:q:q:qting. my lights had both black and gray. one was black the other was gray. son know i have one light done and the other on hold till i find a easier way to finish.

so if there is anyoone that has a easier way toet the black silcone off ' please let me. thanks jerry :mad: :eek: :confused:
 
Yeah, it's tough. Your just going to need to take your time and work you way around the light with a dremal tool.
 
I think it was Jwerner who had an extra headlight and it had the black seal on it. He put it in the oven, like you do with the gray one, and it loosened it enough to get it off. He did say it wasn't as easy as the gray one but the oven helped and that he did bend a few parts here and there.I'll look for it and paste it on

Other then that you must use a rotary tool and cut them open.

I put ones with black glue in the oven to see what happens. They were a old junk set so I didnt care what happened to them. The glue softened up a lot but not enough. I could pull them apart after I left them in a bit longer but it took lots of force and bent things out of shape a bit.

Unless you are confident about not damaging them I advise against this anyway.


There you go.Its not impossible but its not nearly as easy as the gray one.Like he said, if you think you can do it without damaging it then stick it the oven and have a wack at it.
 
Why are you opening your headlights for tint? are you spraying or using film? Why not do the outside?
