I have heard alot of guys talk about changing lenses from amber to clear in the headlight assembly or replacing the seal to prevent fogging.

If any of those guys want to rep by giving details on the procedure with pictures...It would be super helpful. Maybe we can even use this thread as a means of putting a tech article together. Thanks.

its all over this place... use the search feature. I think "headlight clear lens" is what i searched for

+1, i think I have a write up myself but i really can't remember. it's very straight forward though. took the headlights off your car (if you need help with that then you probably can't do the rest), take off the metal clips. pop them in the oven for about 7 minutes at 300F. take them out and pry them open starting from the high beam side. once you do that you will see the 3 pieces spread out and you can either clear the corner, replace it with an actual clear corner or tint/dye it. put back together and reseal with some silicone from HD. that's all.

I wish it was that easy for me. I have the headlights with the black sealant and would love to tint the corner lense and paint the bezel. That amber piece sticks out like a sore thumb on my car. If you have the grey sealant then yes it is that easy.

thanks for the reminder, i did forget about that small disclaimer, lol. good call

Unfortunately my car had the black sealant too. A friend I work with who sold his Black LS sport yesterday had the grey sealant headlights. I asked him if I could trade the light assemblies before he sold the car. This was about two weeks ago. He said sure, so I changed both sets out in the parking lot at work, plus gave him $20 for his "inconvience" :D

I was pretty happy.

BTW he sold is LS for with a messed up advance-trac situation and the car has a salvage title, though almost everything worked and looked good for 4K.

Just like grandma used to make.

So if you have the black sealant headlights....you're out of luck? Somebody has had to have figured a way around that.

Sure, they've figured it out. Grab a dremel and a cutting wheel. You'll have to cut them apart. LsUnV2 did it. 02V8Sport did it. among a few others too.
