Headlight problem! Low and High beams

I've noticed the past couple nights driving (doesn't matter if Im using my high beams or low beams) my lights will work fine and then all of a sudden they'll cut out and seem as though they're only about half as bright as they were. It will stay like that for about 30 seconds to a minute and then flick back on and be bright just like they should be. Both headlights are still working, it's not as if one headlight shuts off for a second or anything. I'm just wondering what the hell's going on, and if I could just buy hid's to fix the problem?

It could be an issue with the relays in the FEM, but it is more likely to be corrosion in the wiring bundle near the headlights, probably on the passenger side.
