Head lights staying on during the day

Almost certainly just a bad wire or connector then.

Update - Narrowed the problem to the switch...I think.

Almost certainly just a bad wire or connector then.

Update -

I removed the small panel on the left of the dash. When I removed the panel, I shook the cords behind the headlight switch. The dash lights came on! I unplugged the dimmer switch and the panel lights got a bit brighter. The lights stayed on until I put the cover back on and hit it to secure it. Then they went out. I removed the cover again, jiggled the wires behind the switch and - voila! - the lights came back on. I made sure I didn't bang so hard when I put the cover back on and they stayed on...until I turned the key off at the gas station. I tried to get them to come back on by repeating my antics from earlier but it did not work...

So now I have to figure out how to test the switch to make sure that's what the problem is and/or how to fix this issue. Any help you all can provide is greatly appreciated!

A starting point is to unmate the connectors and see what the contacts look like. Then remate them and see what happens while you move them.

Team:

I have an update. I bought a new switch from eBay for $15.00 and installed in less than 2 minutes. Dash and other pertinent lights are working fine. However...my headlights still stay on during the day. My car is not Canadian so they don't have DRLs. I am going to check the sensor when I get a free minute this evening. If this is not the culprit, any feedback on next steps? Thanks for the help up to this point. I was on the verge of buying a BMW 535 because I wanted a new car because of all the small things going wrong with my LS, but now it's almost like a new car! Still have to address the airbag light (code 32) and the DRLs but all in all, I am ready to hold on to the 'ol LS. *220,099 miles and counting...
