Friend of mine with a 99 Siera got a custom tune done. The way this company did it is they sent a data logging device to him and he drove the car around for 15 minutes and sent back the data log.

He told him he wanted the tune done for economy and the new injectors (non oem) new intake (non oem) , cut out the towing package securities from the transmission etc... then the guy sent an ECU to swap out.

Is there anything like that for the mark viii? Or do you just buy an ECU already pre-programmed? I wouldn't mind trying to squeeze a bit of performance out of my mark with just a little tuning.

Thanks

Do you have that x-cal? Because with a laptop that thing can get you tons of real time data. LiveLink, older versions are sometimes better. I have not used the Pro Racer or LiveLink software in a long time though.

No, you have many choices. Thats just the best one. Gotta pay to play. Find a shop, get an XCal and have them dyno tune it. You can even have them keep the current trans tune if it shifts how you like it.

I'd like to see what is happening in the engine to see what needs to be replaced. Just for trouble shooting use. Then, once I feel comfortable with the car running ok, then have a tune done.

I'm guessing I can look up specs of what the car should be doing but any type of tuning I don't think I could do. If I just went to a shop straight out I'd imagine it would take a while to tune it as there would be parts found that needed to be replaced.
