I want to post this thread of ideas on how to improve the LSOTM system. I've seen allot of people throwing things out there in previous threads. Lets get one place to discuss just that.


As of right now, categories and other people nominating rides isnt where I'm wanting to go with this. We have a small community as is. People vote for different cars for different reasons. And with less than 100 votes..... this hasn't caught on enough to make the criteria for entry and harder yet. For Feb the only thing I am going to do is cut it off at the 5 spot. Should this get to the point where people are checking it out and voting more widely... I can start looking at adding criteria.

I'm also going to be looking for help. To be honest only for the sake of running febs polls so I can enter. LMAO! Thats a ways off though. For now, lets get the ideas coming here instead of scattered around. And congrats to Fonsito again for being January's and LVCs first LS of the Month!
 
Develop a team with un-biased opinions that wish not to par take. Everyone enters and the team decides on 5 cars. The forum members vote. The following month the 5 previous cars may not enter again. Any member entering must understand and agree with the fact that if they are nominated for that month no matter what they may not enter again.



Thats how all the contests that I have seen work and I do mean they work.


The only problem is getting members that wish not to take part in the contest and add his/her cars. Mark members do come in once in a while so maybe we can go outside the LS community for some support with that.
 
So there's something like this in other forums I've been to. This is my opinion...the last winner (Fonisto) should be considered December's winner..Cuz January hasn't even started yet. And for January, how about letting us vote through out the whole month? And at the end of the month, announce the winner for that particular month, It is LS of the "Month" :) And I think if you're nominated one month and do not win, you should be able to be nominated again another month, as long as you weren't the winner.
 
the issue with nominating people is they may not want in... and honestly look at my car for example... how many people have any idea what my mod list is? too many people would be left in the dark since most dont know what their rides look like. The other issue is timing. Lets say I was nominated for January. I have my HID's to put in and a new set of wheels on the way. I would want to wait until after I got them installed and photographed before I entered. I'm not opposed to the nominating idea, but we need to address issues like these before hand.
I've seen several sites do the self nominate thing and it works....


Allot of sites I've seen do Future Mods... I hate that crap! My future mods include a 6spd, twin turbos, and over 700rwhp....... that doesnt pertain to this upcoming month so it shouldnt be listed.

well the whole voting before the month starts.... would be so that for the entire month of Jan, we all know fonsito is the man!
 
PARTICIPATING IN THE EVENT
So how can I participate you ask? Easy - every month there will be a topic where you can vote for the LS of that month! You can vote your own, your friend's, or some random guy's (or gal's of course!) LS that you happened to stumble upon, but you get to vote only ONCE a month, so vote with care! Please keep in mind that we are looking for three things in particular - customization, originality, and overall look - so place your votes accordingly. At the end of the month, we will tally up the votes and bestow the award to the one that received the most votes!


RULES AND GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW
To prevent people from making multiple accounts to inflate votes, we require a minimum of 5 postcounts for your vote to count. If you do not have this required minimum by the end of the month when we tally up the votes, your vote will be discarded. Also, we stress that you refrain from voting your own LS unless you absolutely and positively (we can't stress this enough!) feel that it deserves the award. (By all means, vote for yourself if you feel that way!) We also encourage when placing your vote, to include reasons why you believe it deserves the award. LS that have won a previous LVC Award are not eligible. And as mentioned above, each member can place only one vote - multiple votes will be discarded - but you can change your vote anytime before we tally them up. Contestants need to be a member to be eligible for the award.

Kind of like magazine subscriptions?

I really think that is much like my idea. Maybe some kind of rotation like for example since Fonsito won this contest he is part of the team that nominates what 5 cars are in and so forth. The following winner gets to participate in nominating as well for the month following.



Everyone submits if they wish and 5 members each pick a car they want to see in. Winners get the privilege of being a judge in the following contest.

instead of picking the first 5 this gives a better chance of someones car getting in and is more organized.

i get it now... makes it kinda unfair to joe newb with his rediculous ride. sure hes gona lose away, but if he doest get pickd to even be in the poll, thats harsh
 
Its fair.

If you want in you put your car in. Its harsh if you loose and your car is worth more either way. Thats what a contest is.


Think of some of the members in the last poll.
 
On the other hand in regards to the last poll maybe we should keep it just as it is to be fair to those that did not win.
 
I agree with you all, but I think the previous contest winners should be the swaying vote at the end of the month (if not mentioned already). They shouldn't have to nominate anyone or anything, it should be up to them if they want too. I like the whole idea of having the contest it gives everyone a chance to enter and win. You should be able to reenter but only so many times if not won in previous months. So it gives everyone a equal chance.

Im just trying to throw my 2 cents in, no harm intended if offended.

yeah your thinking about the same way I am.... thanks for typing what I have been failing to put into words
 
just have a set number of cars that can be "voted" on each month. So if we get more than that, just do a preliminary vote to get to the limit. Kinda like a knockout round.

Just trying to make it fair for everyone is my main concern
 
this forum allows choices. I could fill the first seven and then take number one and two from the first vote and pit them together in the thunderdome
