I think I'm going to get this analog clock out of an 07 Navigator and install it into the wood grain ashtray cover. I never use the ashtray, and I'm sick of not having a clock in my car unless the AVICd2 is in nav mode. So, I think thats what I want to do. Has anybody ever done this. I know one person took out the ashtray and put a portable navigation unit down there, but I want to cut up the ashtray face and install it into it for a factory look. Any comments or pictures to share?

I think it would look super classy if you could make it an clean install. I would paint all that wood grain black though if you plan to put it in the place of the ashtray. Im sure something could be figured out using a drimmel and alot of thinking and planning.

would be very interesting, and I commend you for the idea. I agree with babbster.. It will take some planning.. just looking at the interface of the clock, you will have to make your own faceplate just to house the time adjustment knobs. Good luck if you do try it though.

i think it would look pretty snazy... where would you find that part? pm me and maybe we could help each other out..

Thanks for the positive support. I went and ordered the clock from the dealer today. They should have it by friday, and hopefully i can get quite a bit done this weekend. The buttons are actually part of the clock, its all one unit with just a couple wires to hook up. I checked a few of the online vendors, but everyone seems to have about the same prices. Its pretty spendy, $65, but I've got a little extra right now so why not. Wish me luck, and if I get it done I'll for sure put pics up.

Can anyone think of a better place to try and install it? The ashtray is all I could reasonably come up with.

You'd have to wait til you get the clock in the mail so we can find out the dimensions. I can't really think of any other places better than the ashtray.
