I've got a dark metallic blue car with the old style 01 grille with the chrome top, and have been wanting to get the lse grille with the chrome waterfall and painted to match my car surround. I did this quick, very low quality photoshop (microsoft paint) of that grille on my car, and can't tell if I like it. What do you think? Think the lse grille will look good? Please comment, good or bad. Thanks.

I think that your grille with the chrome blacked out would look much better than the chrome waterfall. Too much chrome in one place. I have an LSE and bought a grille like yours to black out. I ended up installing a McLaren, But I still think my original idea would work.

Hey Nic, yae I would agree if you did not have the chrome bumpers then it would look nice with the chrome bars but it might look to chrome up front.

ah the same dilemma i'm having, i am really tired of the stock grille, but i'm still not sold on any of the other grille options. because of the chrome strip up front, you want something that compliments that, and personally i think painting the waterfall to your blue color and keeping the black bars will make the car lose some dimension up front. i think the LSE grill, or an all-chrome grill like the one here might be more appropriate, but it's a tough call! some people hate chrome.

i'm doing some more photoshops right now based on the picture you posted, hopefully that will help you decide.

ok here's the painting the waterfall option (on second thought, it actually looks pretty good!)

I have a 2000 LS, with the chrome trim. I've been thinking about leaving the top part chrome, and then painting the flat black plastic part to match my car. Admittedly, it might not be much of a difference since my car is black, but I think it might look good. Anyone else try that look?

Thanks for the replies so far. Unfortunately I ordered the lse grille yesterday, it comes with the surround painted black. We'll see when it gets here how it looks. If I hate it, I'm sure I could sell it on ebay, or here, before I waste money painting it. I found this picture on here of a black ls, just like mine except for the color, and I think the chrome lse grille looks good on his. For some reason though, I'm skeptical on how it'll look on my car.

Steagle, thanks for the pic. I kinda like that. Maybe I should pick up a 2002 grille, with the nicer looking waterfall, imo, and paint the surround. :D

Man, why's this got to be so difficult :) ?

that black one would look real nice with some gloss black eyebrows

i don't think it would be worth the work, it might make it look a little bit sharper though. after thinking about it more and looking at the options in this thread, i think painting the surround to match, or the LSE grille w/ painted surround are the two best looking options. the first one of course is sportier while the second is more luxurious. depends on your style.

fbird - i think it's going to look just like it does on that black car, so if you like the look, you'll be fine. if you do prefer to go another route after seeing what it looks like, i'd be interested in buying yours secondhand, as i've been meaning to get the LSE grille for awhile.

Steagle, you are probably right, but I'm just not sure. I'll let you know sometime next week when I get it, if I like it or not. I know the grille issue has been done to death many times before, but, if anyone else has any ideas or comments, positive or negative, I appreciate them all. Thanks again.

Your second option looks pretty good, not a big fan of chrome pieces myself. I've got the same grill and want to paint match.

US Speed does NOT sell an all chrome grille. Actually, we sold them grilles for a long time and those pictures on his site are actually mine. However, to get an authentic all chrome grille you need to do a search for LSE grille conversion and find the one I did. You will need two grilles to make one. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of the stock LS grilles doesn't make an all chrome grille.

thanks for the clarification ken, i just did a google image search and it came up with that. as for creating an all chrome grille, couldn't you just take your LSE grille to a place that can chrome the surround?

For those thinking about combining the two types of 2 piece grilles, the one I have pictured in http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?p=374468#post374468
is a 2 piece chrome/black grille. To make an all chrome grille you just marry the top from this type with the bottom of the one that is chrome.
