I have 03+ headlights and as some of you may have raead in previously threads i took them apart and put new lenses in. i notice some moisture in there which made it look crappy and it was actually wax that must have been on rag when i cleaned the lens on the inside. anyway, halos always go bad so i was wondering where i can get the grey glue to put them back together. this will make it easier in the future to replace the rings if need be. i just spent about two hours getting these apart again and i also scratched a lens lightly. . also i was thinking about using the lens restorer in the inside of lens to make it perfectly clear, has anyone done this ??? i was hesitant to try this in case the restorer degrades and will be noticeable on the inside ......thanks in advance

You really dont need the gray glue just be more careful with the bead and try not to smooth it out so much. Usually that glue can make more problems, like I said in most cases with moisture getting in its actually cause the glue is not cleaned properly before putting the light back together, ie. it clumps in the Chanel the lens fits in.

I dont know where to really find it but if you never really seen it its more like a putty, almost if not exactly like the stuff you find along the sides of houses where the electric meters cable goes into the house.

I used the lens restorer, no problems at all.

You should be able to get windshield sealant at the parts store. Very likely get clear.

you used restorer on the inside of the lens??? what brand??

Camm , will this windshield sealant respond to the oven method when taking apart the housings??

thanks, jsut needed to clarify

It was Plastix.

Next Im using a all out kit.

Im not sure if this matters but I dont have the HID lens also, just thought I would toss that around in case it does. Dont go nuts with the stuff. If the first time isn't good enough just do more light rounds. You dont wanna load a lot on and rub hard.

When you lay the bead dont smooth it out.

After its dry then add some more silicone and smooth that out. Thats what I do and I dont have problems.

Also try not to be anal and do it over and over. The more you add sealant the more you have to take off and the more odds you have of leaving some behind and ending up with a bad bead.

im talking about the clear outer plastic. using the restorer that takes away the yellowish color or just the fine scratches, can thuis be used on the inside or will it degrade like wax will over time??

Thats what Im talking about.

Just dont go nuts or you could damage any UV protectant on the lens if any.

Im thinking the HID ones are which is why I cautioned in my statement above. If so use the Plastx or just use it liberally as I said.

I have not noticed in mine and I have not noticed any ill effects either.

KD should help you out. Post in his detail thread. If he cant answer right off bat he has resources he can question;)
