Great webpage with Mark VIII information, including the information provided to the Lincoln salesmen regarding demographic information, targeted market, and the competition- particularly the Eldorado and the SC400.

Definitely an interesting read for all Mark VIII enthusiasts!

I wanted to see a larger picture of the engine cutaway but it wouldn't let me.

So, according to that site, the two-piece driveshaft started in mid-'93 model year and not just in '94? For someone who's never really had to look at a driveshaft before, how does one tell the difference? Is it particularly obvious?

You can tell the difference by looking at them.

I figured that. But I mean, is it pretty obvious to one that doesn't even really know firsthand what a one- or two-piece driveshaft particularly looks like to begin with?

yes,the 2 piece has a definite "separated seam" where as the one piece is solid with only a welded seam. the 2 piece is most definately easy to recognize as such
