Got Rear Ended Ahhhhhhh

so i got rear ended by a hummer this morning. his car=not a scratch. mine, not so much. i will most likely need a new bumper and certainly a new bumper cover. the trunk lid is bent too which will likely need replacing. cracks in the tail lights etc. ill post pictures later. im just super pissed off.

it did get me thinking though, since i will need a new trunk lid and rear bumper, could i fit an 03-06 bumper cover if i am also replacing my trunk lid with an 03-06 trunk lid? i want those nice exhaust cutouts lol. trying to make the best of a bad situation, any opinions?

Hmmm. First gen tail lights on the body, 2nd gen on the trunk lid... Do those match up properly?

Sorry to hear about your accident, man. We are on our second spell of snow today (last one was 10 inches 2 days ago.) Supposed to get another 6 inches today, and there are real bad drivers in this area. I'm getting scared thinking about the drive home...

Both Gen1 and Gen2 can use the same outer lenses on the body. The only different lenses are the trunk mounted ones. With the 03+ trunk lid and the 03+ rear bumper, I dont see how it wouldnt work.

Yea, i most likely would order the all red tailights anyway and switch out the outer tailights. I dont like the way the two tone ones look hopefully this works out right. all i have to worry about now is working with the body shop to make sure they do it all correctly.

I sold my old 04 rear lenses and the buyer used them on his 02, so thats how I found out they would work in the quarters, not the deck lid. Here are the differences:

Would the bumper necessarily even have to be changed? I'm just thinking that if you can use the same lights on the outer part then the trunk has to be the same depth so that the inner lights match up meaning other than possible asthetics, the bumper would generally have to match up. Or am I completely off here?

Since the rear license plate surround is different, the bumper most likely has to be changed too...

well i cant take any pictures for a while, seeing as my transmission took a dump on my today on the interstate. had to get it towed. im really pissed about this because i had it rebuilt 25,000 miles ago. this has not been a great week for the LS.
