Got pull'd over need advice :o(

I'm going to give you some experienced advice...pay the fine. Pay the fine. PAY THE FINE!!! The officer gave you one helluva break by knocking the speed down. If you contest the ticket, he can and probably will kick it back up to the speed he had you clocked at...then you're in deep doo doo. Don't say they can't do it...they can. Been there done that. Anyone who tells you otherwise is flat wrong.

Your circumstances make this kind of tough to swallow...but like was mentioned, you had other options that would have not involved speeding. Suck up your frustrations and PAY THE FINE.

First did yo do it? If you are guilty then the best course if you want to fight is to admit to the infraction and then explain to the judge why it happened and why it was reasonable for you to have gone that fast.

You most likely will not win by contesting the inffraction. The officer is more likely to be believed as far as speed goes than you. You have to give real believeable reasons why you had to exceed the speed limit.

Most Judges are reasonable and will reduce or drop the citation if you are polite, factual and reasonable. No BS stories or you will be getting more interesting issues popping up. If you are argumentative, you will be buying more trouble.

Often the officer does not show up, especially for small change like this, assuming you were not a PITA during the stop.

In some states, going either 15 or 25 over the posted limit is often an automatic trip down to the courthouse under custody, so you did get a small favor handed to you. My granny once got to explain herself in this type situation, pretty funny to me, not to her.

Depending on your driving record, many insurance companies will let one or two slide by. Also if you have a good relation with your agent, that helps. Does your state have traffic school? sometimes that can help keep things clean with insurance.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson
