Its been fun, but this weekend after having spent thousands keeping up with repairs (trying to keep up) I let my LS down the trade in road. Just when I thought that everything was under control my temprature gauge and fan started to go up and down freely, that was the final straw. I wil miss the looks, and feel of the beautiful LS but not the repair bills.

I have opted to go with a 2002 Nissan Maxima 3.5 liter V6, 255HP 0-60 @ 6 secs. and i thought the LS was fast...It really made up for it with good looks :)
either way I'm looking forward to not seeing the repair shop for a while. good luck guys :) See you out there

From a classy car to a common car with the assumption that Nissans don't break down. Good luck!

I love how he had to post the horsepower and 0-60 times, because NOW i am jealous. Especially when its a 5 yr old car. I usually tend not to travel backwards in time when buying a car. Good luck though with the repairs. I have now had two different LS's and other than periodic maintenence i havent spent anything in repairs. My guess is if you had to do repairs with the LS your gonna have repairs with your Maxima. Usually a driver thing.

maximas are pretty nice. but like every other current nissan I think a blind guy designed the interior. The dash especially is hideous.

I doubt it. I take care of my cars. And this is , by far, the worst one ive had with things breaking on it. And to think this was a $35k car , when new.

I seems to be the luck of the draw with these. I guess i have had two lucky pulls so far. But if by chance you get a problem prone LS then for sure driving a little harsh isnt going to help.

hey guys, I'm not sure how old some of you guys are or if its a pride issue, but I am a nice guy that has spent way too many dollars on this car, as you know I'm not the only one. I do not abuse my cars, in fact I baby them. There's a reason for the low resale value on these things, I'm just looking at the facts. by the way you are talking about walking backwards in time...I'm a single dad with a very good job that has his priorities straight, I work hard and make sure my daughter has everything she needs and the last thing I need right now is to have a car that breaks down every other week.
I did not insult your individual vehicles so why do you have to get stupid?
if you want to bring up facts...shall we play a reliability game?
I dare you to find as many "I need help, this wont work" posts maximas vs. ls.
theres no way guys, did anyone miss the fact that I loved my Ls. I just cant afford to throw away money every month having to have stuff that should'nt be breaking at 60,000 miles. How may maximas or any other cars are known for serious transmission work required starting at 50,000 miles? ( other than dodges) I had mine rebuilt, and as I drove away from the shop, my window reg went out, when I got that fixed then I had the car die and oh geeze, couldnt have guessed my spark plug wells were full of oil, and had to replace the iginition coils. No i didnt have to guess all I had to do is log in, compare my milage and year of car and see what problems others were having in order to forecast what was going to break down next.
I'm able to admit it...

I also found this and think it's funny posted on another thread and directed at you:

Why do you always act like an A$$hole?

It is ridiculous.

Didn't your mother ever tell you?

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Talk about stereotypes!! Nitrous reminds you of a skinny punk carrying a gun?!

Have you ever been to a race track dickhead? You have no idea what you are talking about.

You are just trying to be a prick.

Bottom line.

Act like an adult or go sit in the corner for a timout!

(I tend to AGREE)

either way sorry guys, I just found the self proclaimed "Forum D#$@$ Head" a little irritating when all I was doing was saying goodbye and sharing my excitement over the new aquisition.
and thank you very much "V-8" fot this comment, I also agree.

alex,, very nice post. Kill em with facts and reality,,lol

I agree with everythjing you said,,, be nice to get help or share info without people trying to be funny or annoying.

As far as fla02,, putting you down for having a 7 yr old car,, isn't his an 02 LS?..lol

Good luck with the Maxima,, I had a 88 and a 97 and never had any real problems, run nice and run quick,, and they hold their resale pretty well.

The old 92 Maxima was still strong until rear ended (140K) miles. I have had no real problems with my 02 LS and I hope that continues. Enjoy your Jap ride.

A Maxima is a nice car. Not as nice as the LS (IMHO) but probably less likely to be as finicky as the LS. I love my LS, but I've bought a $40 hose, a $140 hose & piece of plastic, I now apparently have one or more bad coils so my car drives like a$$, and I still have a bad window regulator and a bad wheel bearing.

Everyting but the regulator and wheel bearing is this week. I feel your pain.

Enjoy your Nissan. Hopefully it won't take premium gas either!

The Nissan Maxima is more reliable than the LS ever will be. They are also much cheaper to fix than the LS.........that is sticking to the facts. Plus, the offer a better warranty. As for the comment about the Lincoln being a "classy" car, I would tend to agree. The town car is a classy car too.......so is a 78 Caddy El Dorado. When you're talking about a luxury car company, I would hope the product exuded just a little bit of class.
Given that, a fully loaded 2007 Maxima (Elite Package) has heated rear bucket seats, a heated steering wheel, HID headlamps, a Bose system, Navigation, and a CVT (continuously variable transmission). Plus, it has 18" wheels, gets better gas mileage, has nearly equal performance. The only thing the Maxima gives to the LS is RWD and cooled seats.
So you're right.......the Nissan isn't a classy car. I will give my opinion on the 2006 LS and the 2006 or 2007 Maxima. After haven driven both cars back to back, I liked the Maxima more. Granted, I was a bit turned off by the FWD aspect of the Maxima, but for every other feature and at a price nearly 13000 dollars cheaper, it really wasn't much of an decision. Think about it.....how long was the LS out? 6 years? And how long has the Maxima been out?
Don't get me wrong. The LS is a great car.....it just shows its age. You can't argue that. From 2000-2006, they did make some changes. However, they didn't do enough for it to keep up with the times. They started with a great product and didn't follow through with it. And you want to know why? Because it was over-priced, under equipped, and under powered. Plus, keep in mind who the car was designed for. The average Lincoln buyer is over 60......the average LS buyer was meant to be early 50's.
The fact of the matter is......Nissan's don't break down nearly as much as domestics do. At the Nissan store I work at, we had to let two technicians go because there wasn't enough work to do. AND, Nissan has sold more than the other franchises (VW, Audi, Mercedes, Mazda, Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury) as a single franchise store for the past 6 years. You would have thought with that logic that our service department would have been the busiest. On the contrary, it is the FLM store.......followed by Audi/VW that bring in the most service. Save your sarcasm because it is uneducated.

Really? How does that chain of thought work? The new Maximas have a lot going for them.........same as the Camry. How much does the LS have going for it? Oh, that's right........it was discontinued.
And another thing........the Camry and Altima and Taurus are in the same class. The Maxima is not..........it competes with the Avalon.

You'll like the Maxima.....congratulations. And you're right about the resale and overall value of the LS. You could drive a brand new LS off the lot and trade it in right away and you would take at least a 7-10 thousand dollar loss. You could then drive a Maxima off the lot and trade it in right away and you would be looking at a 3-4 thousand dollar hit. If anyone refutes these facts, why don't you check out what used LS's are going for at auction and then check out what used Maximas are going for at the block. You would find that compared to what the LS stickered at, you are taking a beating on what it got bought for at auction. Take a Maxima, and you'll find out that you can't get a steal on it. I'm simply stating facts.

I'll take my Jap ride anyday........considering it is made in the USA. Oh, what's that? Ford is sending its production to Mexico........weird. I would rather buy a "Japanese" car than a "Mexican" car.

I would love to get rid of my LS. It has no value anymore ( see past crash posts). Plus, im under in my loan.

I would kill to have my old Japanese car back.....i miss her:

I think its called job security since FLM wants to build FWD cars that nobody wants. Instead they build cars that break so they can make money elsewhere :D

On a serious note. I think two of the major problems with the LS are the mechanics. Some techs at some shops just don't seem to know how to work on these cars and that leads to false diagnostics and/or wrong procedures to fix it. I'm not knocking techs. The ones at my dealership have been great and get things right the first time, but I know some of them out there don't.
Also it seems that the more complicated a car is, then the more problems you have. Look at a Fords, they don't seem to require as much work as Lincolns (I could be wrong here). Of course some of the high end luxury cars are very complicated and don't have near the problems, but I think that goes back to the engineers. I think Ford is more worried about getting a product out the door than spending a lot of time and money on research and development, which would raise the price of the cars. Just my opinion on the matter.
