Gonna try to revive the Mark (Egr and crossover tubes, among other things)

Thanks lsc but whenever I tow it to an exhaust shop its gonna be an all at once thing, cats, 02s, complete exhaust, egr tube etc etc.

Lol... it does increase fuel economy... deleting it usually results in a 1-2mpg loss... but I guess you are special. If your only reason for deleting it was keeping the intake manifold clean... well I guess that a reason.

i have done it on a few cars and have NEVER lost economy. did it on my old probe, 2 friend's MX6's, my lincoln, and anything else that i have worked on that required me to unbolt it, or anything around it.

The government sets an emission standard and the makers devise a way to meet that standard.

EGR was one of those ways.

With better engine designs they can remove those "emission devices" so long as it meets those standards. Removing stuff saves production cost and time.

As new standards are set, they get more creative.

I know that the 3v's with variable cam timing use it to burn efficiently enough that EGR becomes a mute point...

EGR deletion does not have ridiculously adverse effects. There is absolutely no pre-ignition from the combustion temps increasing. quit whinin.

You can all think what you want.... but I'll stick with the word of much much more knowledgeable people like Jerry.

thats just it, someone else's word. you have never personally experimented with it. i have, so have many others, and none of us have had anything happen that you, err i mean what someone told you would happen.

On a sidenote, I connected the battery again and the alarm is going nuts of course. The battery is cooked, sitting all winter must've ruined it, but who cares I'll probably end up getting it free from eeek.....Autozone.

Anyone know why when I turned the key something in the area of the dashboard made beeping sounds? I'm attributing it to the battery being dead but who knows. I'll probably put a working battery in it before I get it towed, at least to get it off the ground.

Oh, and anyone have an estimate on how many feet of pipe are needed to put together this setup....

2 new cats
single x pipe
2 20" tips

True dual as well. 6-8 feet sound right? My buddy wants an estimate to tell the exhaust guy.

Just dropped it off today. Quoted me 450 for the entire job, including the replacement of the iac valve. I still couldn't fill the engine with coolant, I disco'd both radiator hoses and filled it as good as I could, and the overflow tank as well. It only took like 1.5 gallons, they're gonna see if they can't get it done.
