?? Going Purple ??

I use their oil sometimes. I see no difference between it or other synthetics. Don't use their tranny fluid, just use Mercon-V
 
I haven't dyno'd it, but I sure didn't feel a difference. One thing I can say with the oil is when I change it after 5k, it isn't burnt and still has pretty good consistency. Thats with me beating the hell out of it.
 
I'm going to use RP MaxATF in my Mark as soon as I get the 1-2 acc and j-mod done... It may not do anything but I figured the fluid was worth a shot.
 
use it with mobile one oil filter, I seriously doubt you could 'feel' a 5 HP gain, but my engine is smooth and quite, and I 'feel' better, it's expensive, but, hey, so are these engines.
 
I use Mobil 1. I started using 5W-30, then I heard we can run 5W-20 in these cars as a service bulletin from ford. I'm now using 0W-20 Mobil 1 because it's got the same high temp protection as 5W-20 and more start up protection. I can tell you my best track time was with the 0W-20, however, I also used that on the coldest day I've run the car, so I'm sure the cold weather helped my times as well.
 
People say good things about royal purple. I have never used it & probally wont simply because it's expensive & the motorcraft semi synthectic gives my engine all the protection it needs. I don't race it around or anything like that.

From what has been said I would use any of the popular synthetics, royal purple, amsoil, mobile 1. They all seem to be superior oils.

There is one particular oil that I would NEVER use in anything, that is that nasty penzoil bulk oil that you get at the quicky lube places.

If you have the extra cash to replace all of your fluids with the royal purple I'm sure that your car will have great protection and you will have peace of mind.
 
I use the Pennzoil bulk oil SAE 30 in my lawnmower. My neighbor gave it to me for free. It has a weird bluish tint to it. I wouldn't really want to use it in a car, it seems OK in the mower.

I had to replace a chevy 350 motor a few years back, and that's all that motor ever saw.

Can anyone say " molasses"? There was so much gunk and gooey stuff in there, it was scary! Last time I used Pennzoil.
 
Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Redline are the only "true" synthetics left on the market, that is, they are made from PAOs. The other synthetics are hydrocracked petroleum, which still outperforms conventional dino oils, but they are basically uber-refined dino oil which is not truly a synthetic.

With RP in my engine, trans, and diff I can't really attest to any benefit in track times or horsepower, I can verify about a 1mpg increase, and I have the peace of mind in knowing I have the best stuff available. RP PS fluid actually made a hell of a lot of noise in my pump, so I just switch to Mobil1 ATF and it works just fine. For coolant, I use the Low-Tox green stuff with Red Line Water Wetter, but I will be moving to RP's Ice stuff because it contains more corrosion inhibitors than Water Wetter.

In the big scheme of things, Motorcraft's lubricants will work just fine on anything that is close to stock and not track driven, but I am just anal retentive about that stuff.
