Anyone entertained the idea of seeing if those would fit our cars? I think they sell through summit for around $140. Granted, it's not the coils we were hoping to get, but if ultra-low resistance connectors would fit, there's no doubt they would help! Virtually anything is better than the coiled wire we use now!

Maybe someone that has a 99+ Mustang GT or Cobra; then if they don't work you can still use them!
 
I just e-mailed GMS asking for a recommendation, dimensions and the possibility of being able to buy one of each (Cobra, GT) from them to test fit. Hopefully they'll get back to me after the holidays with a positive response! We'll see!!!
 
when i was at GMS, they did work w/ putting some prototype coils in my car and i asked if they had anything else that would work on our cars and NO was the answer every time
 
hmmm... Well, I don't recall seeing these apart from the coils before. Maybe it's new that they offer them this way? I don't know... if I get lucky and they are willing to sell me one of each; it's worth a shot seeing if they'll fit (I read they are length adjustable somewhat... around 3/16")
 
what happened was that they kept giving me the run-around and i got tired of it. the coils are good though. when they were in my car they really did make a difference. i kept calling and they kept telling me next week, next week, so i said forget it. gave up and to this day they haven't gotten in contact with me.
 
i was thinking more along the lines of..., the market for the coils is so small that they dont see so much potential profit
 
I'd agree... they'd sell what, maybe 100 sets over the lifetime of the product sales? If that... 4.6L coils, I'd bet they sell 100 a year per product model (coil pack 4.6, COP SOHC 4.6 and COP DOHC 4.6)

My personal opinion... It's sad this engine was only ran in two vehicles for a life-span of six years. I believe there was plenty of potential for the engine had they desired to develop it further. What better engine to start throwing in mid-sized cars to compete with the Impala V8's, Chargers and the like? Convert it to direct injection with the ability to drop cylinders and a small factory turbo or even roots blower; you could easily hit 350HP... it would be reliable, small and fuel efficient. Just the V8 ford is missing right now.

Imagine a mustang selection that included a turbo 3.9L, 4.6L or 5.4L... the 4.6 and 5.4 with different options for naturally aspirated or forced induction and the choice of a solid rear end or a long arm/short arm IRS (on all but the 5.4L which due to being so front heavy wouldn't be as likely a choice for road race type tracks).

Let the aftermarket have a true demand for parts (H-beam or I-beam rods) on the 3.9L and factory support for forged crank... 400 RWHP would be common, and talk about an extraordinarily balanced vehicle... That thing would carve up the track like a thanksgiving turkey.

Just my thoughts....
 
^ very true, but as a business, companies must look out for investors and potential profit weighs huge when pondering making parts for a specific vehicle. i agree with you one hundred percent, i'm just saying from a business stand-point they are smart for not doing it, and it's not worth their effort
 
Oh of course... it isn't that profitable. But... one can dream...
