Glass Removal

Might help if you take the mirror of to see. I took it off once a few weeks ago but didn't cjeck to see how the glass came off. Take the door panel off and pull back the paper that is attached to the door. The mirror is held in by 3 screws.

The glass part of the mirror is pryed out to repace. No need to remove the housing. Had mine replaced this past winter as the seal failed.

Outside mirror glass removal

REDBED has nailed it. But here is a little elaboration from a Tech Manual:

!. Push the upper inboard corner of the glass to its limit of travel.
2. Grab the now accessible lower edge of the glass and pull outward.

The glass is held onto the position servo by 4 plastic hook like prongs that will flex allowing removal of the glass when you pull on it.

good to know- some A$$hole stole my glass in a Hooters parking lot last night.

anyone know where to get replacement mirror glass - other than a Lincoln Dealer? Changing lanes without it SUCKS!!

dont you look anyways to make sure that somebody is not in your blind spot anyway?

of course but after driving for 23 years you get into a certain habit. for me its look in the mirror, check the blind spot, make my move - I get thwarted in my process right on step one...
