Has anyone ever dealt with a possesed moon roof? Mine was working great until one fine day when I tried to close it, and it closed...and then popped up into vent mode....then opened again....then closed again....then popped up into vent mode....then opened again - etc., etc., etc., in a never-ending sequence. I had to unplugg it from the fusebox (at the exact moment it closed, as it only stays in that position for a fraction of a second) in order to keep it sealed. Nothing I could do with the moonroof buttons or ignition key would stop it from constantly moving. Does anyone know what would cause this, or what to do about it? My moonroof doesn't have any access panels, or manual over-ride, so I would have to tear out the whole header in order to even look at the mechanism. I oiled the rails and as much of the mechanism as I could reach, but it made no difference. I assume if it was the blockage sensors it wouldn't close at all, so I don't think that is it (although I could be wrong). Any ideas, anyone? I sure like being able to open the moonroof, but it won't stay in any one position - it just keeps moving. I bow to your expertise (ahead of time).....

if you edit your profile..and add your year model for your car to your signature file..

it'll help people help you faster.

your tie rod question was no year specific but as time goes on, your gonna add it to your sig file

I'll assume it's aftermarket. Switch is on the header just forward of the moonroof. No access panels to the machinery. Even when you shut down the engine and remove the key (which normally causes the moonroof to close) it will continue to do it's little unending dance. Nothing will stop it short of pulling the plug in the fusebox.
