I've searched and found nothing. I bought this LS last Labor Day with 41xxx, and jumped on it fast because they're harder to find in my area. I love EVERYTHING about my LS, but I'd love to put the V8 in her.

So, how difficult would it be to swap from a genII to genII? I still owe about $10k on the car, and my paychecks are less than mediocre, so just going out and getting another LS is near impossible. Some of the 3.9s' I see on Ebay are pretty cheap.

And then I figure if the swap is possible I'd figure parts and labor could be what, $1000-1500?

The only way I can really go get another LS is if I can find one that is under $7k, trade in my LS towards it and add more money to my loan, which is something I don't want to do, and probably have to travel to New York to even find one.

I'd rather just save up my money to do a clean swap. Possible?

Easy answer: No, you can't.

It would take too much time and money for anyone of modest means to consider. It would likely cost you as much as another car... and may still not work right. There is too much electronics in these cars.

Damn...

I figured the computers wouldn't be such a hassle to work with if both engines are from the same generation.:(

Crap! It's about to hit 49xxx, think I could sell it for $9-10,000?

^^ Nope.... well, maybe. 49k huh? That's low. Mine just turned 97k, put 75k of that on myself.

You might get $9-10k for it from a private party. How much did you give for it if you don't mind my asking. I saw an 03 v6 at a local dealer here with 102k on it and laughed in his face when he said he wanted $10,500 for it.

Just keep the v6. It isn't that bad.

Maybe put some of that money towards your mod list. I know after you put on an intake exhaust and tune you willl love it much much more!

I wouldn't bother like Disk says put it towards mods if anything else, I know when i bought mine i was only looking for a clean ls with a v8 because i would go crazy seeing the V8 badge on other Ls's. MHO you dont buy a v6 camaro or mustang you buy V8!

Mine was $10,595. With the loan and interest it comes closer to $15k though.

Yeah, I know. I really want to slap some Bassanis on it at least, but the money pit is very low. There's a lot I want to do to it, but I don't want to do too much just yet, just in case I get extremely lucky and find myself in a V8.

That's exactly what I've been doing. It pisses me off when I see an LS with a V8 badge, and the person driving it is some old lady who has never pushed the pedal down halfway unless they're on the parkway. I just want to pull them over and ask if they want to trade, and I might just do that one of these days. Maybe follow them to bingo or shoprite or wherever they go.
