GenII guys, being that I've never had to pull a door panel from one, I'm interested in knowing how they are attached.

On the GenI cars, there is an 8mm bolt inside by the handle, accessed by removing the switch panel; and a screw inside the courtesy lens assembly.

On my GenII panels, looks like there is a hole underneath the handle lined up over the mounting point perfectly, but there is nothing on the door panel that will allow me to attach it. As in, I can put the bolt in, but it will simply screw right into the door and not hold the panel on :)

Where are the mounting points for the GenII door panels?

Thanks!

I thought they were the same. Peoples switch panels often enough.

My gen II panels fit right on to my gen I doors. I would think there the same.

Yep, they fit right on, hook up just fine, I just can't bolt 'em in.

Down by the courtesy lamps, the screw goes in behind the lens I take it? I haven't popped the lens off yet for fear of breaking the tabs.

Underneath the handle... is there supposed to be a metal tab that the screw slides through in order to catch the door panel? I'm now wondering if I'm just missing a piece from the panel, if that's the case it'll be back to the scrapyard (or jamie) for me. There's like a 1" diameter opening onthe bottom of the armrest, through which I can see the inside of my door and the hole for the bolt to go in, but it doesn't 'catch' the door panel in any way.

I see there was a mounting point behind the courtesy lamps, but the tabs where the screw goes are broken on mine. Guess I gotta fab something up, and that would explain why I didn't see it.

there is supposed to be a steel angled bracket attached to the panel behind the arm rest, the hole you see under the arm rest gets covered with a small plastic tab, there is an 8 mm bolt supposed to go through there just like a gen 1. someone may have lost the metal bracket or it broke off . i have a driver and pass door panel if you need that metal bracket i can take it off the correct panel, whatever side you need. the door panels were saved from a 97 black lsc i was going to put them in my black 93 but never did. i hate to break up a door panel but what the hell! gimme a $10 dollar bill for the shipping and the bracket and its yours.
