The LS is dead. If Lincoln emerges with another rear wheel drive format, and that is an if, it probably would not be until 2014.

it could happen

Well if they do, I hope it's A LOT better lol. I'm not sure if I'm staying on "Team Lincoln" after all my experiences with my LS. Might move on over to team Mercedes.. Looking at a couple C-Class'

smart move... go from one car your unable to work on and fix, to a far more complicated car to work on or fix...

not to knock you at all, but nothing wrong with buying a car thats easy to maintain... If I would have just bought a Honda when I was in school, I would have saved so much money and trouble...

All high end (or Luxury) cars will be difficult to maintain the older they get... Dont trade these problems for another set

I completely understand, Rell. I would love to just have a Honda, those things go forever. But I work in high end real estate here in Florida, so a luxury car is literally mandatory. It's in the job descriptions, lol!

Then it is time to get an S Class and make sure clients have room. The LS is definitely not for your career.

marcredd, we're on the same page. I LOVE the S-Class with a passion, lol. Ever since 2006 when they re-styled it, I have been in love with them. Unfortunately, I'm just now starting my career (I work in marketing now, going to begin my agent classes in a couple weeks when I turn 18) so I'm not making "S-Class Money" quite yet.

The LS was quite well designed and executed IN IT'S DAY. The design is over 15 years old. When it was released in 1999 it was ahead of anything Lincoln had released in many, many years; and ahead of many imports. Many of the issues can be directly related to the EPA (plastic parts to save weight) or suppliers. It has been many, many moons since manufacturers controlled the quality of the parts they installed. They sub out just about everything other than engine and transmission.

I would never own a Merc without a warranty. Talk about expensive repairs! And Merc quality hasn't been very stellar of late! You probably need an SUV anyway.....

The LS was way ahead of it's time, no doubt about it. I don't mean to sound like I'm taking any credit away from the car. A Lincoln is a car that you should own for 4-5 years, and get a new one. Luxury cars aren't meant to be 2nd hand cars, in my opinion. They're too much trouble. My LS has features that some 2012 cars STILL don't have and if I had a 2000 Kia POS, it'd be in the junk yard by now, not my daily driver. So the LS is definitely a great car, I just have a sour taste in my mouth about Lincoln after all my troubles.

Stand by for a more sour taste when you start paying for repairs on a Merc.

I bought my LS second hand and it has had fewer issues than the one I bought off the showroom floor, literally. I'd never purchased a car off the showroom floor before!

Repairs on any luxury car is expensive. Trust me, I love my LS. But I look at it in the way that, how reliable can ANY CAR with 177k miles truly be? That's what concerns me most. I'm paranoid when it comes to driving my LS because I never know if something will go wrong.

Then sell you're LS and buy one with low miles. You're not even 18 you have a lot to learn and experience. Most people don't start any careers into they're mid 20's and most people still just have jobs.

Buy another LS? I know I have a lot to learn still but my current LS (and this forum) have taught me a lot, and I know no matter what car I get it won't be "flawless". I'm already in my career but like I said, right now, I'm just a marketer. When I turn 18 and become an agent, it's mandatory I have a luxury car and I need one that is reliable. It really puts me between a rock and a hard place, lol.

A lot depends on how the car was initially maintained. My old 2000 V6 has over 176K miles and is still running strong. It passed it's smog check a couple of months ago with flying colors.

If you want to get high miles get a diesel. They go well over 500K miles easily. Properly maintained of course.

Well my mom bought this 2000 V8 when it had 63k miles on it, she was the 2nd owner. After a year or so, she didn't properly maintain it. It's had an endless amount of money in mechanical work done to it, so when something new goes wrong it's very concerning because most of the time, I won't know what it is.

Don't get me wrong, right now my LS is running strong. No issues (that I know of) besides it needs new sway bar links. But out of my next car and any car after that, I'm not looking to get a lot of miles out of it. I'm looking to get 125k or somewhere around there, worry free, and I'll be happy. Reliability is pretty much priceless to me, lol.

My 2000 ls runs like new
get 28 mph with a v8 has over 200000 miles on it
yes iv rebuilt it from ground up but i wouldnt trade it for any thing else

I have family in the real bizz in Flordia too... I understand the pressures. But a newer Honda / Nissian will serve both purposes... Nice looking, reliable car... Dont get wrapped in the image too much... which will be worse.. you taking a client around in a newer honda, or a Merc with a dash full of warning lights that goes into limp mode all the time...

Original engine & tranny has 200k on it, or you rebuilt that too? If you have over 200k on your ORIGINAL engine & tranny, you're my hero. Lol!

Rell, what brokerage does he work for? The high end brokerages in Palm Beach require you to have a vehicle that is classified as a luxury vehicle. It's not only pressure from the clients, but the companies as well. If you're bringing a client to see a 10 million dollar home on the water, they aren't the type of people who are driving a Honda or Nissan, they're driving Rolls, Bentley's, etc. So it's all part of the strategy to have a beautiful luxury vehicle. Rich people know more rich people, referrals are important. So you want to do everything you can to make sure you don't get talked down behind closed doors. And unfortunately, in these parts of Florida, the car you drive is a huge part of your image.

Please, don't take any of this the wrong way. I don't think I'm better than a Honda or a Nissan or anything like that. One of my favorite cars out right now is a Volkswagen! A luxury car is just another good way of marketing yourself when you're working with the type of people who are buying 10 Million + houses

SHE...is at Century in plant city

Well all i can say is good luck... I hope your able to figure it out, and I'll leave it at that.
