So since I lost my job I have all kinds of time to just think about stuff like this and go out and experiment. Took apart the Gen2 grille earlier, I think there was a debate about it being a two piece or not, in a sense it is but your going to have to glue it back together, theres these black tabs that look as if they were melted to hold it together which can easily be popped or cut. Took about 10min total to disassemble. Anywho, I hate the waterfall but love the chrome trim so this is what Im thinking of doing. Leaving it wide open but cutting a piece of black ABS plastic to hide the hood that is covered by the stock waterfall. Quick little MSPaint render with before and afters.

there are two different grills that they used, some are the two piece grill that can be separated, like the LSE grill i just painted, but some are one piece and cant be separated like the stock one that came off my car (03), i used to think that people just didn't know how to cut them apart until i switch mine out and saw that it was one piece that it is entirely chrome(like a towncar grill) but the water fall is just painted black over the chrome
