gen2 door handle on a gen1

i need a door handle for the rear driver side door, i found alot of gen2 handle my question is will a gen 2 handle fit a gen1, this is the link where i found the handle.

They should all be the same.

I pulled up next to a Gen 2 when i went to the store and i noticed their handles were a little thinner than mine. I don't know if they'd fit or not, but they probably wouldn't look right. Unless you replace the whole contraption.

I just measured my '00 and '06; the measurements are the same. Also, the part number [2W4Z-5422405-AAH] shows interchangeability.
