Has anyone put gen2 mani on a gen1? i know they changed the design a little bit and just looking at the two side by side it looks like the gen2 would flow a little better but who knows...has anyone been here yet?

ah ok. well like i told you i'm gonna have the engine out of the car so i just thought i'd see if there were any possibilities while i have it out with easy access.
thanks Quik

not saying it's not worth it...

The long tube headers Missing Linc' was looking at were $800, and the you had to add new cats, redesigned exhaust, ...etc - likely near $1500 when it's all said and done - and with only a minimal performance gain, it's not high on the hp/$ area.

hmmm...ok. yeah it doesn't sound too profitable.
what do you think about deleting the cats?
at the moment all i have is cats up to a 3" X and straight pipes from there out...no resonators or mufflers. (i love the way it sounds!!)
i was thinking maybe i could delete the cats instead and run some mufflers instead so it won't be extremely loud

the LS (like most modern sporty cars) uses high-flow cats - so technically you do not get much improvement by deleting them (not that I have personally had it on the dyno before/after). There no way to pass emission if you delete them, you can prevent a CEL light but the sensor goes to a not ready status.

oh ok! cool i didn't know they were high flow already. well maybe once they go bad i'll get back to the idea of deleting them. i'm kinda relieved actually bc i love the way it sounds right now so not changing it is fine by me :)

I think you can still buy kits to make 02 sims so the pcm thinks the after cat sensors are working but the EPA got Casper electronics and others to stop making the plug in ones.

I believe those only prevent the CEL light from turning on - meaning the sensor is present (otherwise it's an automatic failure). but they still did not fool the PCM into actually believing that the cats were working - so the emission test for cats would sit in a 'not ready' status.

in most states with testing, you can only have one 'not ready' status....

2 not readys for up to '99 and only 1 for 2000 and up.
They left 1 because for instance a evap monitor may read not ready in feb and you have to wait till it warms up outside.

I had 02 sims on one of my cars a while back and they mimic the up down voltage changes and do fool the pcm into ready status.
I have an early Autotap and other programs that work through an elmscan interface and they would show the sims at work and my monitor for 02 and 02 heaters ready within 50 miles.
