Ive got a 98 lsc which I swapped another motor into about a year ago,at which time I replaced just about everything in the car, including a new starter. I have only put about a thousand miles on it and up till now 0 problems.Today drove it 20 miles or so,got to where I was going, still running fine, went to leave and no starter response at all not even a click.Tried jumping it,not a thing.Had it towed home, replaced starter with a known good one still dead. When I turn key to the right everything on dash lights up as it should, checked batt.and it to is good, when I turn key to start I loose eveything for a second, then it all comes right back on.I've checked wiring and it looks good as do the terminels on everything.Anyone have any ideas,I would really appriciate it!Thanks in advance

I suppose its possible but it seems to be working like it should,I've done a few searches and alternator issues seem to come up quite a bit, maybe I'll look into that when I cool off a little. Thanks though.

this makes me think it is not alternator related. even with a dead alternator, even with NO alternator and a good charged battery, the car WILL start and run until the battery runs out of charge.

fully charge or try a known good battery, still no start, its not the alt.

checked batt.and it to is good

if you have a good charged battery and the car still wont crank. either the power is not getting to the starter, bad connection, dirty battery terminals, bad wiring.
or the signal to close the starter solenoid is not going through. bad ignition cylinder, more bad wiring, more dirty connectors, dead solenoid (although unlikely between two starters, but not unheard of.).

I agree with ya on the alternator thing Chris.Went out to the shop this A.M.,turned the key and it fired right up,so I checked alternator output and it was right where it's suppose to be.Bad news is when I shut it off and tried to restart it,it was dead as a doornail again, starter just clicks.I guess it's time to break out the manuals and start going through fords "pinpoint test" procedure, sounds like fun!God I hate electrical issues.

It souinds lilke something is shorting out somewhere. Turn the key, comes on then off? Its energizing then shuts out. Check battery cables, grounds and connectors. If it worked all this time you prob hit a bump and knocked something loose.

dead solenoid (although unlikely between two starters, but not unheard of.).
+1 dead solenoid, if you have power to the starter.

They get baked were they are at.

Got no juice, check the batt. cable ends, factory is junk.

Problem found!! Cracked terminal end on ground cable where it bolts to driver side of block,PITA to get to,but a simple fix none the less. Thanks for the sugestions.
