Gear swap

You can get a Sniper chip as well, I don't know of anyone who has one on a Mark VIII.

i would go with a chip but why when a little more cash and learning means i never have to get it reprogrammed when i throw something else on and the longer i have it the more effective i can tune the car

I'm thinking of using the Moates Quarterhorse on my 93 Mark and my 90 Super Coupe (then maybe some of my friends cars)... Use a F2E and a Burn 2 to get the BIN, buy a strategy/def for the SC and tune with Binary Editor... But for the Mark I might be stuck with CalEdit unless I can get someone to do a CZAJL. Once satisfied with the tune on one car use the Burn 2 and an F3, then tune the other car...

Moates is cool looking stuff... the fact that their chips are only $60 makes me wonder why SCT is charging more than double that!!

If you post anything mentioning moates on sct's forum you earn yourself an "instaban"....lolz

because of the things you can do with the F2burn which goes directly against the SCT EULA.
(that's all I'm gonna say)

I can't put together a clear picture of my situation from this thread: my gears are going in this weekend. I'll be attemtping that one-wheel method - I can't visualize how it will work in my head, but I've only been inside that rear end once before so I will make the leap of faith.

It is a 96 LSC and has an SCT chip, I'm just sending it to the vendor for a re-burn to recal for the gears.

That said, do I need to use the speedo gear if I get it reburned? Or if I use the speedo gear do I need to get it reburned? Or do I need to do both?

Cool. I got a speedo gear coming to me in the mail and just sent off my chip to get reflashed.

Looks like my stuff will be showing up on Tuesday so I will have to tackle this next weekend.... hopefully have the car on the road by next Monday. I'm sick of driving my Taurus.

An SCT chip and fifty bucks.

A full dyno tune would be the better way to go, but I need a way to get my car from my driveway to the shop 100 miles away to get it tuned, and I don't want to do that with the computer still thinking I had stock gears. Fifty for the reflash to get it on the road is cheaper than a tow up there :)
