Gauges in the Gen II's

I assume your not talking about my gauges but those ugly ass ones in white above with the cartoon font?

Scott will be the one printing mine. I just e-mailed him again on some things and he liked the fonts I used so I sent them to him.

I regret changing mine out in my Vic... the quality just isn't there....

That being said now that I have them I'm planning on getting my Vic redone... This time around I had my uncle who is a graphic designer specializing in typography.... so I guess what I'm really saying is I'm very picky.
 
Yes. Those reverse indiglo look like they were done by a third grader. That font is fulgy and the Lincoln star is over-used.

I am sure they are "neat" but you could not buy me a new house to even get those in my Mark. Its a luxury car, note a rice wagon.

I know, to each his own and I dont usually criticize since I know not everyone likes my rims. But those gauges are such a step back from the design of the car.

I like CobraStar_LS8's.... but that tach looks like it's about to come bite me like a rabid dog. Probably would be better to tone the tic marks down a bit.

Unity's look like the 05+ Mustang cluster... Which IMO shouldn't have been used in the Mustang, but would probably look good in a 2nd gen Mark.
 
I have always liked rays guages, the font isn't really my style but his design and layout is cool and i think they look kick ass at night.

Love what you have done for the Gen II gauge face. Think you can accentuate the Cruise Control Light? It's what makes the Gen II superior over Gen I.

What about the same era Continental's gauge cluster I always thought they looked nice, and they did that reflection thing off the top.

No offense to anyone in the thread but the Gen 2 will always be in my eyes a Lincoln first and something sporty second.
 
I guess the "gay"ges u like unity mite be better than the ones in my car but the ones u like look like the gauges in my navigator. Is that where u got your idea from?

I have no clue what you just wrote. English please, but I did figure out the last half. The original inspiration was a Mark IV.

Im sorry if I like style and something that looks OEM over stuff that looks like it was voted on by 1st graders or a rice pack.
 
These gauges that my brother had designed himself. He did not get any ideas from another car. Can u think of any style of gauges yourself? Prolly not thats why you goin with something from an older mark cause u cant think of your own design.
 
Um, he had to have based then on the existing gauges of course, just like I am. And the fonts we both used are not original to any gauge design. I chose my font out of the 4,000+ I have instead of the 15 shipped with a PC.

So other than the lincoln emblem slapped around and over-used they are, in the end, the same thing: a set a of custom gauges. Difference is I have taste and do graphic design/we design so I also have experience.

No need to get all defensive! LOL
 
Make the tack go to 8K so burbank will buy one! haha..

Seriously though 8K would be sick
 
I would consider, if you dont mind, updating the font to the new Lincoln style or something bolder.

Also between the blinkers I would maybe shift the "Lincoln" name upwards to align it.

Just my two cents.
 
Im just trying to defend Ray rite now who is not here as if u didnt know. R.I.P. If he was here u would probably be getting a lot more $hit from than me.

If u have experience in graphic design it doesnt show at all by the looks of those gayges.

Keep dragging this gayness of yours out all you want. I am glad I did not know Ray, cause if your in anyway like him I would hate him too. Your repeated references to "gay" is very low. Now move a long little person.
 
Let Ray rest is peace will ya'll...no need to bring him up in this...he is not fighting any fights so there is no need to defend him...he's a proud Mark VIII owner and had opened doors to modifying Mark 8s...he wants us to do many things to our Marks...that's why he shaved his Trunk...Some don't like it but it's something that changes how Mark 8s aren't just for old folks or meals for junkyards......I open up a MM&FF or 5.0 Magazine and I see a bunch of bull$hit for Stangs like aftermarket "gayges", headlights, etc...but it's nice to see alot of things you can have for Stangs and I always wonder what if we got something like those for our Lincolns or maybe a LMS Magazine that shows updates from Mark VIII guys doing 1st gen Kennebell setups and how the LS guys are modifying there LSes also or maybe a Mark VII with a Navigator's 5.4 in it...Just something to read with Lincolns in it so I won't be bored sitting on the crapper at work...lol, i know ya'll read MM&FF on the crapper too......

I agree.. leave ray out of this.

IF you have a personal issue with what someone says, by all means speak your mind... but please leave ray out of your little "tiffs"...m'kay?

No one is saying ANYTHING that would require you to "defend ray"...so just can that crap.
