2000 V8 sport, got this weird sound comeing from behind the motor area. At least it seems that way. It makes this Rearrrrrrr sound when I accelerate slow but only when I am in gear. Its not the trany and it does it at any given time from what it seems so Im kinda lost. Anyone ever deal with something like this? It only really seemed to have started after that damn intake I put on but there is no way I see it doing anything wrong.

I do how ever notice that my car gets really hot and takes a while to cool down but I never see the gauge go up at all. It stays on cold so its not over heating.

It sucks that I cant just make it happen and it only does it while driving so I cant just open the plate from under the hood and listen for it.

You guys have been great so far, let me know what you think it could be. I would love to tackle these things on my own now that I dont have to worry about the damn warranty and the old lady flipping out about doing it on my own.

Driveshaft/universals? Don't we have 2 piece units? Does it make noise at all while coasting in gear?

Only while on the throttle. I mean its under the hood but right behind or around the rear of the intake manifold area. I was kinda thinking a bad pump. Sounds like a burnt motor for a pump but it dont allways do it and if its burnt it would have stopped.

It kinda sounds like a bad steering pump but, it has nothing to do with when I turn the wheel or anything like that.

Maybe it is just the way your intake swirrels the air in the intke tube. My F-150 had some wierd intake sounds with the K&N I put on it.

But why would no other members have this sound and why only at certain times? Its really not a good sound and I almost feel slight power loss from it.

I hear the noise the air makes passing the plate but its nothing like that at all it can be loud sometimes.

Anyone know what the first hose in the intake on a 1st gen leads to and what it is that is in between from the begining of the hose to the end?

Anyone know about the water pump?

Like where its at and could it be the culprit?

Any other pumps behind my block near the firewall area?

It sounds just like the power steering but only its not cause it happens with the throttle and not when I turn the wheel.
