Fugging steering

This new mark is paving its own path to the crusher soon, out of the blue the steering won't correct it's self and it feels like it buckles when I take a sharp corner. Inner and outer tie Tods are BRAND new I double checked them and they are A OK. Any ideas fellas?
 
Yeah, you don't want that wheel buckling all the way when the ball joint gives out. Ever seen a car on the side of the road with a wheel perpendicular to the wheel well. :shifty:
 
Get an alignment, and make sure everything's tight. Sounds like like some stuff's moving around....
 
Did you remember to grease the ball joints?

You know you can't grease the lower ball joints without either drilling/tapping a hole for a zerk fitting or using one of those syrenge fittings for your grease gun. And in most cases, the upper ball joint won't come with a grease fitting either. The UCA's on my car have them, but the Moog LCA's I'm going to install sometime in the near future don't. Neither do the china junk LCA's that are on the car now. I had to grease them with the needle fitting.

It's all to spec and greased but I did the alignment my self with a tape measure :lol: maybe I'll take it in..

Meh car tracks straight as an arrow. I did my own little modification that I do to every car I own, i cut the threads fairly short on the inner tie rod, and tack in some ready rod on the outer then at work I make a piece of pipe with threads on it and thread it on both with jam nuts on both sides so I can adjust the toe in/out with out even lifting the car or taking the wheel off.

Yeppers. That is exactly what's happening to mine right now. I know it's because of those LCA's and strut rod bushings that I still haven't replaced yet. But when I do, I'll get it aligned again and all should be well. It still tracks straight and isn't showing any excessive tire wear, but the steering wheel will not go back on center upon exiting a turn. I have to do it manually. That's just not right.
 
Thaywood my lca's have zerks one set moog one set from Scp.
I just did a complete front end of all moog on a buddys mark both his uppers and lowers have zerks.
 
That's interesting. I got my Moog LCA's from Amazon.com and they have permanently sealed ball joints with no grease fittings. I didn't see an option for grease fittings or I would have gotten them. That's awesome that yours has them. In a perfect world all ball joints would have them. I don't believe in "permanently sealed" anything:D
 
I believe it's because moog is owned by federal mogul so they just throw whatever is on the shelf into the moog box. I have had moog uppers both with and without zerks.
