Fuel Sending Unit?

I have a 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII and I was on a half a tank and put about 3 gallons of gas in her. When I started to drive away I noticed the gas gague did not move. The computer in the car said 8 gallons to empty before I filled her up and after I put in 3 gallons it still said 8 gallons to empty. Any ideas what it might be? Do I have to reset something? Sending Unit shot? Thanks for the help, -Vic

Did you turn the car off
Computer wont reset till then.
if you did probably a spending unit.

I have a habit of leaving the car idling while pumping gas. I just fuggetaboutit til the next startup to reset.

It just randomly started working again after being reset a couple of times. The sending unit is probably still going to go though.
