I couldn't find much about anybody doing this project. I just used some angled aircraft tin snips to cut the hole, so no sparks were present. I did this a while ago and decided to post these pics for anybody who might have some interest. I found a 94 in the boneyard to use as my lab rat with some tin snips, digital camera, and tape measure.
I have read most of the negative replies when anybody asks about doing this. Yes it can be dangerous if you aren't careful. No I can't smell any fumes. No there is no support or structural compromise. It took about 45 minutes to complete. Walbro 255 installed with stock fuel regulator(no issues). Yes I know how to drop the tank, but why bother when this was pretty easy and I can change the pump out in the future quicker.
I marked where the fuel lines were so I could place the sheet metal screws safely.
