Hey guys!

I'm writing about an issue like the title says on my parents '02 conti. When filling the car up with fuel you can only get about a $1 worth in before the line backs up and shuts the pump off. Is this a vent tube problem? Can you blow compresed air into the vent tube if there is a restriction? I've never personally had this issue before.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the reply! Well, after some research I tore into the charcoal canister. I had read where these can get plugged with fuel from over filling. Plugged it was but not with fuel, instead super fine powder dirt. My parents live on a dirt road that is maybe 500 ft. so maybe previous owners lived on a longer road. I was surprised with amount of dirt and how it even got in there like that!

New canister on the way!

I've never seen anything like that! Oh sure, you can find a canister saturated with fuel or something but 5 lbs of dirt with a flour consistency is a new one!
