I need help. With my car that is. I did search but couldn't find any answers about the stock springs. My driver front spring is broken and I need to replace it, obviously. All I could find were threads about aftermarket springs. I don't have the money to go buy all that, so I just want to replace the one spring with a factory one.

Question is; what do I need? Are the left and right side springs the same? Seems all the used ones I find all say they are the right side ones. Also, when it comes to sport and non-sport, are the springs the same? Again, all I seem to find, never specify whether it is a sport or non-sport. Any input would be great.

Oh, and I have a non-sport V8.

If i was you I would just call up junkyards and find a complete shock/spring assembly and pop that in. And yes ford has different spring rates for different models. Sport means stiffer springs. Find non sport V8 in boneyard. Most like score shock for 50 bucks. You might find someone on here that changed out there springs and have there stock ones hanging around. I will check my ford DVD if differance in L or R springs.

There should be a tag with a code on the spring. Also a year would also narrow down the search. Right and left springs are the same. if no tag then a vin number could help. a 2000 spring is approx 80.00 retail and about 60.00 your cost each.

wow. guess I can't type my response fast enough. There's your answer! Although I was going to say that I've never heard of different springs between the sport and non-sport. You know front springs differ from the rears, but right or left shouldn't matter.

Yeah $60 is good, and I will probably just do that seeing as the junkyards around me have no LS parts and on ebay including shipping it will probably cost me $50 anyways.

I did know the front and rear are different. But I wasn't sure about left to right. But because of that plastic (cup) thing that the spring sits in, I thought that maybe they were different. Are the springs the same for sport/non sport? This is for an 01. Thanks.

spring

Here are the possibilitys for that application out of the catalog...................the springs are on top and the shocks are below them

I know this is more money, but if my car had a high mileage reading on the odometer, I would be changing both springs as a pair on the same axle of the car. And if I were doing that, I would also change both shocks while I was in there. The new spring may make your car have a slightly different ride height due to having less use on it than the one on the other side of the car, so it could appear tilted to some degree with one new spring and one old spring on the same axle.
