I have a dull thumping noise at the front of my 2000 ls. I have checked the front sway bar bushing, links and control arm bushings. The noise seems to to die down after I drive the car about 3 miles. The car has 85000 miles with the 3.9 Anybody have a idea?

"Inspecting" the stabilizer bar bushings will show nothing. They need to be replaced.

More than likely it's your sway bar bushings. Do a search and you will find plenty of information on this. You can purchase new ones from Energy Suspension with grease fittings on them.

The noise is all the time until the car warms up a bit. The sway bar is not loose and I can't move it any with a big pry bar. Do you still says it's the bushings? I'll Try changing them. Thanks for the help. Nothing is sloppy at all, I new they had trouble with the sway bar bushing but I'm hard headed I guess.

There is no test for the stabilizer bushings that will show they're good or bad. As they are at least 12 years old, my bet (especially on the 2000) is the bushings. I forget when, but the replacement from the dealer is a bar with the bushings molded-on.
