Front brakes squeaking at low speeds to a stop

I recently started a thread about issues I’ve had with my front brakes after changing them. The shaking isn’t really as noticeable and I’m going to take it in to get an alignment shop this weekend to take care of that. However, NEW ISSUE. Only as of this week the front passenger side rotor is starting to squeaking but only at low speeds to a stop. Say around under 40 – 45 miles an hour to a stop. So most of my neighborhood driving (embarrassing :(). My theory is that I just need to go back in there and put some more brake lubricant on the parts that need it.
My question to the LS community is, is that a good idea?:shifty: Taking off the caliper and brake pads and placing the same one’s back on? Of course I’ll be sure that the correct pad goes on the correct side of the rotor when I putting them back but is that ill advised because it’s been over two weeks already and the rotor have been broken in???
I can live with the squeaking but it would be nice to not have any squeaking like I did that first week.

do you have semi-metallic brake pads?
we had semi-metallics on my mom's 2000 v8 sport and they squeaked all the time. got rid of the semi-metallics, got rid of the squeak.

yes, its fine to take the brake pads off and then put them back where they came from. just don't get any oil or grease on them.
 
Did they also turn your rotars when they installed your new breaks? if not that could be an issue.
 
Check to be sure your caliper guide pins arent sticking...

May be a good time to replace them, the boots, and the bracket.
 
I cannot get rid of a front passenger squeak on my '02.Turned rotors, a couple sets of Motorcraft pads, new pad mounting hardware, well greased caliper pins, and two different types of anti-squeak grease.
I'm at wits end on that problem. I mostly just keep the radio turned up.

FWIW, reapplying anti-squeak to the pads keeps them quiet for a day, then it's right back. No mechanical damage that I can tell to the caliper or bracket. Looks like the pad mounting hardware clears the rotor, but it's pretty tight.

are they red box motor craft or brown box ford O/E??

Use CERAMIC pads, not semi-metallic!

I have been having the same issue with back and front and I had recently needed to replace my back brake pads, so I went with Ceramic ones. That cleared the squeaks up completely. So now I am debating on waiting for the front pads to be ready to be replaced or to just replace them anyway to eliminate the squeaking.

But anyway, the ceramic pads are much better, higher quality, and not that much higher in price. The semi-metallics are cheasy and generate too much brake dust.
 
My front passenger squeals. It drives me mad. Did it since I did the front brakes. Interesting that it seems to always be the passenger side.

Yup!!

The red box ahave a generic compound on the shoe for all cars/ trucks . The O/E are made for a specific car to those specs. That being said the red box will perform just as well as the O/E for stopping but with a lot of dust and noise...possibily. I try to advise all but dealers to spend the extra and get the O/E or face the possibilty of come backs in the service dept.

I also had this problem. So I went to ceramics on the rear but I haven't done the front yet cause they were close to New when I got the car. But I also quit using arisol wheel and tire cleaner. Especially tire shine. That stuff is the worst.
 
I'm having the same issue, I have replace the pads, rotors, caliper brackets, all brake hardware and they are greased very good. Looks like I'm taking back my Wagner thermoquite pads and getting ceramic pads!!

That's what I get for jumping on a fire sale at Rock Auto. At least they were (relatively) cheap. Oh well. :rolleyes:

As always, thanks for the info! Wish I had asked before buying those. But, hey, it's Motorcraft, it's gotta be right!
 
I bought a package (-SS brake lines) from Rotorpros.
Are the Posi Quiet brake pads that come with the cross drilled and slotted rotors ceramic?:shifty:
