probably because of the hard start issue, and not fixing it fast enough. **sigh** Only myself to blame. Damnit. Now, to have a drink.

Well my hard start issue is probably a leaky injector. Frying the starter is because my dumb ass didn't fix it fast enough.

So OEM replacement is around 224 + $100core. Just for kicks, I called OReilly's. I can get one with a lifetime warranty for 128 + $25 core. Hmmm...

Tha's ok, I had a whinning noise one day I could not figure where it was coming from, I found out after the alternator crapped an hour away from home. Since my car comes last I got stuck, blah!!!!!

Unlike the crap I used to get at AutoZone, I've had pretty good luck with the parts I've gotten from O'Reilly's. The AZ stuff needed its lifetime warranty; the car I drove in college had one of their Duralast starters, and it had a tendency to spontaneously disassemble itself at the most inopportune times (as in the bolts wold come undone and the housing would come apart). My truck has an O'Reilly alternator, and it has performed flawlessly (unlike the more expensive one I originally got from the Ford parts counter which had the connection in the wrong location...).

Ouch. Yeah I guess it could be worse. But I have to leave my car in the parking lot at work all night. I'm worried someone's gonna f*ck with my car.

Thanks for the heads up. I've never had any issue with OReilly's parts either. I'm probably going to order it from them.

I would assume it's standard operating procedure as other starters. But being the ls, there's gonna be some stupid bolt that's tough to reach.

Ramps are going to have to do. I'm not paying for a tow, so it's getting changed out in the parking lot.

I can't say I'm suprized, at the meet it didn't sound to strong trying to turn over. Hope you don't have any issues changing it out. I'm sure ramps will work, assuming it starts so you can drive it up the ramps, if your car isn't to low... I don't think mine would go up my ramps.

Mine will make it up ramps. But it's not going to start to get it on the ramps. The truck is going to pull it up.

You must be planning on doing this another day, its dark... and probably snowing...

Good news on the ramps, I guess mine will go up them to then. Cause yours is lower.

I've been procrastinating with my little problem, its been sitting in the garage since I talked to you. All nice and dry though ;)

I was going to text you the other day to ask you how it went. I'm a procrastinator too. But right now my car is parked across the street from some student housing. I'm afraid it's gonna get f*cked with if I leave it there too long.

Damn that sucks. Going to install the fuel pump now that you'll be working on your ls?

Doesn't seem too bad........

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Disconnect the ground strap.

4. Remove the cover.

5. Remove the nuts and position the cables aside.

6. Remove the bolt, stud bolt and the starter motor.

INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

EDIT: Hope these pictures work.......

I don't know what happened, but when I looked at ls4me's instructions last night, they were for R&R'ing the starter. It's something completely different now...

Edit: I just refreshed the page, and it's something else now. The text remains the same, but the images are changing. They're linked images from AllData, and they must be reusing the image URLs.

I'm a procrastinator too .... lol even if you dont drive the LS, its still a work of art just sitting:D

Starter will be here in the morning. Going to install it and drive home. Then will install fuel pump later . Going to start driving the winter beater anyways.

I started about 2 months ago, cant beat it for $100 then 200 for tags, 80/year insurance and about 250 in tune up parts..
