Free brake pads for your Lincoln, Ford, etc. for the life of the vehicle. Labor and other parts not covered. May not be worth it if less than full ceramic pads, but you know it will be done right.

As seen on Autoblog as well.

• Motorcraft brake pads that have worn down to less than three millimeters will be eligible for no-cost replacement; labor and other parts are not included

• The offer applies to Motorcraft brake pads replaced on a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle

DEARBORN, Mich., August 4, 2014 – Ford Motor Company has launched a new point-of-sale program at Ford and Lincoln dealerships and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers that provides consumers with no-cost replacement of Motorcraft brake pads purchased as of July 1, 2014.

Motorcraft brake pads that wear down to less than three millimeters will be eligible for no-cost replacement as long as the customer owns the vehicle. Customers must still pay labor and installation costs for replacing the brakes, as well as the cost of other parts needed to return the brake system to original operating condition. This offer, called "Lifetime Brake Pad Guarantee," applies to Motorcraft brakes replaced on any Ford, Lincoln or Mercury passenger vehicle and certain commercial vehicles.

To qualify for replacement brakes, customers will need to present their service advisor with their repair order or vehicle identification number.

"This program reflects our commitment to providing customers with an excellent ownership experience regardless of the age of their vehicle," said Frederiek Toney, vice president, Ford Motor Company and president, Ford Customer Service. "Plus, when you purchase Motorcraft parts at a Ford or Lincoln dealer, or a Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center, you know you're getting the right parts installed by the right people. Motorcraft parts are the officially recommended parts for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, and these technicians are factory-trained and certified to service our products."

Except for taxi, limousine, postal, police, towing or emergency vehicles, commercial vehicles are also eligible for the program. Racing vehicles are not eligible.

That's where they'll make their money!!! Free $25 pads and $200 labor!!

I would also be careful to not actually get charged for the pads. Not saying that the will, but I would not be surprised if a few would...

My last two PM's (now due for the third) they have been telling me that my rear brakes need to be replaced and tried to schedule an appointment, last week when my boys and I installed the PowerStop kit they were still at or just over 3mm.

I would wonder if every service comes with a hard sell about how the calipers, rotors and lines are all bad and the fluid needs to be flushed.

I agree...every "free service" comes with an opportunity to upsell or sell you a service that may not be needed.

The dealership always wants to rotate my tires. Mostly so they can then sell me tires...but more likely, they will round out my lug nuts and then offer to sell all new replacements later, plus installation.

Funny you mention that about the lug nuts. The dip$hits at a dealer near me torqued my lug nuts well over the rated capacity of my 150 ft-lb torque wrench (I'm guessing 175- 200) on a brand new hub bearing assembly (both sides actually). The shells on the nuts were all mangled. One of them was on so tight, it snapped the socket, splitting it open while I turned. This, among a list of other things they broke and poor service, has prompted me to write a letter to Ford. Maybe I'll humor everyone with a new thread that shares the letter once I'm done. Essentially, I wanted to have them put in a steering rack, check/ install lower ball joints if req'd, upper control arms, and a hub bearing assy. A four digit labor bill later I got...
Pressed in ball joints after they said they don't do that on this car (which I knew in advance) But they someone did press them in... without telling me if the old ones were bad lol. I then discovered ripped boot on brand new ball joint (I over nighted them another one and got paid, but they reused the other "new" nut, and did not use the loctite packet included). They also...
snapped mount on coolant degas tank
rounded upper control arm bolts
snapped return barb on coolant degas tank (broke down 3 days later, pushed car 1/8 mile, missed day of work)
broke dust shield rivet on front brakes (rubbing rotor 1 day later)
did not fill power steering to at least the "minimum" level
broke sway bar end links (was clunking before I even got home)
broke wheel speed sensor (they offered a "free replacement but wanted to charge 3X what I could pay for the part. When I said no, you've done enough, they gave me the car and said leave extra space and be careful! Not kidding!! They could have easily disabled the ABS by pulling the ABS motor fuse under the hood, then the car disables its ABS so I don't dart to the right with the lightest of brake pedal touches).

After fixing all this stuff myself in the driveway, I noticed the brake lines were in bad shape from rubbing on the shock and control arms. It was glaring, and extremely surprised it was not mentioned. I quickly replaced them and flushed all the fluid.

To get my rant back on topic, you can do the brakes yourself and still get free pads... Autozone... CMax gold guaranteed for life... They even make a pretty nice black oxide rotor to go with it. I am not easy on my brakes and I got 60K out of my last set. Best part, some "ASE certified" reject isn't touching your car.

Let us know what Ford/Lincoln responds with, I was in Newport, OR April 2013 and had a bad experience with just a PM (did not have time to get it done at my normal dealer) and long story short, I caught them in a lie about what they did by asking them to show me the "jump point" under the hood they used to test the battery (trunk was full of luggage). Even after that they offered no discount, no nothing. We left Newport right after service headed inland for the next leg of the vacation and the further I drove the more uncomfortable I became. Ended up paying again for an oil change just in case they lied about do that as well.

Wrote FMC and although the reply was very polite and apologetic, they did nothing other than to claim that the issue would be raised with the dealer and a permanent record would be entered into the dealers file... whatever that means.

Oh I should also say that on my next service (at my regular dealer) they asked if I had missed a service which led to a conversation regarding it, when I went to check out the balance due was zero. I ended up going back in and talked to the service manager and he said not to worry about it, they just hate to hear when customers receive poor treatment at other dealers.

Now they may have taken it up with the other dealer, but I do not know for sure.

Not to burst your guys' bubble, but Ford has very, very little control over the dealers. The dealer lobby is extremely powerful! Once the dealers own the cars (prior to consumer sales) the manufacturers are pretty much out of it. You're probably better off going to a consumer protection advocate. Or "threaten" them with a trip from the local news channel's consumer complaint department. Just be sure to have all your ducks in a row!!

Yeah, I kinda knew that going in, but thought "what the hell, it can't hurt"
Which was exactly why I was not expecting anything out of it
