This is why a spyder valve should NOT be used in the frigid climates. I expoxied the thing on pretty good two. But several days of above freezing temps followed by a deep freeze has again caused the dryer to freeze up and blow off the compressor.

Problem is that air is pulled into the drier, but its never expelled. THIS IS A PROBLEM. And I said so long ago. Remember, I have new bags all around (well about a year or two). And ever since installing the valve this has become a yearly winter problem, especially after warm temps followed by a quick deep freeze.

The air needs to be dried before it enters the compressor if its going to be one-way.

My next project will be to remove the compressor intake box and fill it with silicate (which I have TONS of from all the dryers I have gone through). Then I will seal the inlets and output with a mesh.

Or the whole thing may just get tossed in the trunk. Lines are all usable as is so all I need to do is run wire.

I think I may actually just trash the valve, its not doing me any good at all.

Send me the valve....I need one for tiffs car.
ESPECIALLY if it's the V-1 original spider valve.

Then, route you a hose from the compressor inlet to inside the passenger compartment.. so your pulling "climate controlled/dried air" into the compressor.
Just a thought.

We had a over a week in the 20's....and I didn't have any issue with moisture in the dryer.

and in the weeks before the freeze, it is/was very very humid here as always.

On the gulf coast, my drier should be far far more saturated than yours is.

BUT..I agree.. TRASH the valve and send it to me!!!

Why did you have to epoxy it on?
Are the ears on the drier missing/broken?

Ya. I was getting sick of buying dryers. $80 a pop is not cheap, although I have a source for $30. Either way, its not hard to take them apart and dry the material in the oven for a few hours. Works very well. But once the ears are snapped off, game over.

So the last time I made sure it was dry inside and took all the good stuff from all the dryers and made a nice one that had rust free innards. But with the ears off I had to epoxy it on. Knowing it could come off again I went overkill. But I guess it was not enough. I will probably have to get a new compressor housing or who new compressor.

If I am doing all that (replacement), its going in the trunk. I can use the lines that are already in place. All I have to do is run the wires and mount the thing. I can even box it off so it will be dead quiet.

...I had that problem last year while in New York.
It doesn't take a night or two of weather that's hitting the frost point, but a sustained freeze. Blew the dryer right off the compressor unit.

That said, in the warmer, humid areas, the Spider Valve is excellent by prevent all of the moisture related vent failures.

i think his car is just a wuss that dont want to work when its cold.
should call it pedro

HAHA!

Well at least its starting when its cold out now. I played with those injector values. The ones I have now, which are almost half of what they were, are working great. When I increased them it was not starting again.

I really want a newer Mark.
