I have a 2000 LS with the 3.0 5 spd. manual trans. I'm looking for a new 14290 harness, which is discontinued from Ford. The part number that came back for my VIN is YW4Z-14290-B4. I have found a couple that are the same P/N except they end in -BA and -JA respectively.

I'm concerned that either of those will be wrong based on mine being -B4 as matched from my VIN.

1. What exactly does that two letter suffix in the Ford P/N mean?

2. Will the -BA and/or -JA work in my car?

Thanks much!

I think that leading Y should be a 1, perhaps. Some places change numbers to make it harder for you to search competitors when you find a part you need on their site. Or perhaps, Ford Parts Giant changed the Y to a 1 on their site. At any rate,

The two letter suffix are basically version numbers. "YW4Z" is the year and model that the part first appeared on. "14290" is the kind of part, in this case a wiring harness.

Your part number should be YW4Z-14290-BA, there is no "B4" version. Also, you can't rely on the number that's actually printed on the wiring harness tag, that's an engineering number that needs to be cross-referenced back to a part number.

Thanks for the info folks. Where can I find the number that is printed on the harness/harness tag?

I get that LSinYourLS. LOL! I was hoping there was a specific spot on the harness where I could get to it without having to tear the front off the car to find it somewhere. :)

:D

I wish I had more info, but that catalog doesn't tell me. However, if you give PM me the last 8 of your VIN I can tell you for sure what harness you need (although I'm 99% sure you need YW4Z-14290-BA, which is discontinued).
