Is this a design flaw or is something wrong with my mark?

The engine bay is always scortching hot, it seems like not enough air is circulating in the engine bay. my temp gauge doesnt rise above the "M"

Do you still have your beauty cover on, that traps some heat. If the gauge is on M you have nothing to worry about though.

yea I still have the beauty cover on, my main concern is the Alternator. its a monster upgraded alternator which puts out a good amount of heat all alone. electronics dont fare well with high temps.

I wonder if I can have the fan come on at the high setting or if I should goto my local salvage yard get another fan and have one push and pull. on both sides of the radiator.

You know, my old BMW 735 had a built in air intake specifically for the alternator, from the factory - maybe you could 'fab up' something to keep yours cool.

Also, i hear custom performance chips can be programmed to turn on the cooling fans sooner. (but obviously that would affect your engine and might not do much for the alternator)

The engine bay on Marks is very cramped. You also like in Texas so it is fairly hot already. If you worried about the alt doing as blue on blue says might not be a bad idea.

Im moving the filter to where the factory compressor was. the fan is always running as it sits, the PCM came from Geno, and looks like its designed for a 160T-sat.

I just didnt know if this is an issue to my car or if other mark owners suffer from scortching hoods, and plums of hot air when the hood is opened. I need to get a laser thermometer and seee excatly what the temps are.

Im hindered by the fact I have no sensation of touch, Im basing this off what i have been told.

got the same chip... going to be doing the same thing with the cone filter. My temps to rise above the A on normal. With the chip off it wont go above the M. it usually hovers around L most of the time. I am also using water + water wetter.

If its really too hot, could there be a vacuum leak. Would that not create a lean condition and more heat? I am not too familiar with how that works, just a random thought. ha!
