I took a little time last night to look at how the headlights on my 04 were sealed together. After looking the the design I figured out a way to get the lights apart w/o major damage so they would stay functional and not condensate after being put back together. I will post the complete HOW-TO after this weekend along with pics of what I have done to my headlights while they were apart.

There is no damage involved at all, I just said that in the post because other people have tried and ruined their head lights.

sneak peek for those who may doubt me. A full write up will be done after the weekend once my headlight project is finished. All the roughness seen on the housing is the black sealant which hasnt been yet removed in these pics.

I hope if you're doing angel eyes you can also figure out which 2 sizes to get. Since you only need one pair of 2 different sizes I think there will be a lot of trading going on so people can do this...

I have it figured out, I have the Angel Eyes in already, looks perfect. Pics of the finished project will be up this weekend.

how do you plan on sealing them without getting condensation?

I did this mod on my 02 with the grey sealant and this is not much different, I scrubbed off the old black sealant and am using grey sealant to put them back together. The part where the light and housing seal together is not damaged at all, I dont see any problems with condensation at all. LOTS of sealant was used and there is no way moisture is getting in there.

SWEET! I paid the $500 since I'd probably screw my HID lamps up. I have a set of '03+ lamps that I may try out... Paint the bezels vivid red just to see what it will look like. Can't wait for the How-To. Good job.

When I pulled my set of 03+ headlights apart I tried to heat up the sealant. Then I pryed the black part of the headlight away from the clear. It worked but took some time. The only issue was if the ring around the black part would seal back up. It looks like you did the same thing. As for the two ring deal, I have been working with Umnitza to acquire a kit for this project. It does take two different size rings. I look forward to seeing your progress with this.

Will the same technique work for the 00-02 headlights, or would it still be easier to just bake 'em?

if the sealant is grey just bake them, if its black sealant you will have to do what I did . It took me 1.25 hours to get both lights completely apart and off the car.

Eagerly awaiting a write-up.

Anything on this yet?? I just ordered clear corners and noticed today that on my '02 I have one headlight with grey sealant and one with blace sealant so I could use this info. Hope to hear and see the write up, and if anyone else has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

Should have something tomorrow, sorry, got stuck remodeling the house and Im leaving for vacation later this week for 3 weeks.

finished sealing with black sealant and new halos inside. Painted inner orange marker silver to match the car.
