Finally got my coils.

how much did you spend?

i have a misfire in cilynder 3,my car runs fine, perfectly. i was cheking my coils and sparks and they all look fine, so i think i need fuel inyector cleaning. but that looks real nice it looks like a super powered ls:P

I've been running my accel coils for appx. 4 months now with no issues, the car runs fine. The only time I had an issue, I was parked with the nose uphill and it rained for my entire 16hr shift at work. When I left that night a small amount of water got past a coil and she ran like a diesel for 5min's until the water burned off.
Haven't had any problems with rain any other times, guess its only an issue if she's parked up hill in the rain for several hours.

coils still working fine, full power?

Coils working just fine. Fuel pump ordered. I pulled the pass side plugs, and it shows I've been running lean.

I spent maybe $200 shipped for the set from summit.

Accel coils

I've had a set of Accel coils, as shown here, for about three years now. They work just fine, but as an upgrade, when I install the improved four litre engine, I'll go to a set of Accel coils designed for a chevrolet v-8. It'll be necessary to create a mount, attached to the inserts that were designed to hold the coil covers originally. They use a short section of plug wire and conventional boots. Actually, the only 'trick' is to create connections for the interface of the existing wire harness and the Accel coils.

And, FWIW, I've not had any sort of water problem in the past three years.

What about MSD or Granatelli coils?

No one answered this and I was thinking the same. I'm thinking they should since they fit were the accels would. Plus, with the Granatelli coils, you can "upgrade" the spark from ~45,000 to ~60,000 for ~150 more..

Ive had them over a year, posted this in another thread, only had problem with 1 failing (and it was my fault because I spilled coolant on it) and it was nice and convenient to be able to go buy a replacement at autozone and have it installed in 5 minutes. Coil covers aren't necessary I drive mine year round in syracuse weather and haven't gotten any water on them at all. Bone dry the whole time. Plus id think coild covers just trap heat in. My coils are just held in with one screw each. I looked into the granettelis and msd because they're supposed to be far superior, but are also much much more expensive. Just looking at the pictures though, they appear different. But if they work on a 4.6 I'm sure internally theyll, work. Just might need a little more jimmy rigging to get them to stay in place.
